South Siders Basketball Club

South Siders Basketball Club is one of the elite basketball teams in Nepal. Our club colors are oran Watrin Tournament.

The South Siders Basketball Club was founded in 2005 by a group of friends in Lalitpur to participate in the Fr. In the subsequent years the team has grown into one of the elite basketball clubs in Nepal. The teams name 'South Siders' denotes the club origins in the southern part of the Kathmandu Valley. The Club is also popularly referred simply as the 'Siders' by the team members and supporters.

The Club while situated in Lalitpur has a very wide supporter base throughout Kathmandu and even among Nepali basketball community abroad. The Club appreciates that many of its original members have played under the South Siders banner in tournaments in the United Kingdom and Australia. The original club colors are orange and white. Black became the third color of the team when the South Siders for the first time wore the black uniforms in 4th Father Watrin Tournament. Currently the team wears a black uniform with white stripes on the shirt and shorts. The team logo and 'Siders' that is written across the chest is in orange while the numbering is in white. Since 2009 the Club has organized an annual South Siders Open Basketball Tournament. In 2010 the Club added a Women's competition to the Tournament and plan to continue the hold this even in the following years. As the Club is an independent entity not affiliated to any other institutions it is reliant on self-funding to sustain its activities. Unlike the other top four basketball clubs in Nepal the South Siders do not have the financial capacity to pay the Clubs players. The Club has always appreciated the players who have always played solely for the love of the game, love for the Club and love for the group of players themselves. The Club also appreciates its many sponsors without whom the South Siders could never achieve the heights we reached. They have constantly believed in the ability of the Club to organize high quality events while representing their interests in sincerity. The Club is also grateful to its former players and members who have assisted in every aspect of the teams administration and financial progress. The South Siders will always remain true to its founding principles and be a Club welcoming to all.

It has been an honor for us to see Paras grow over the years into a national icon, and a shining example of a true leader.
