Timo Werner: Chelsea agree to sign forward from RB Leipzig on five-year deal.

Chelsea have agreed to sign Timo Werner from RB Leipzig on a five-year deal.

The forward, 24, has agreed personal terms with the Blues and, subject to passing a medical, will join in July after the German league season ends.

Werner, who joined Leipzig from Stuttgart in 2016, has scored 32 goals in all competitions so far this season.

"I am delighted to be signing for Chelsea, it is a proud moment for me to be joining this great club," said the German international.

Werner, who is known for his pace and can also play as a winger, thanked the club and fans at Leipzig and said they would "would always be in my heart".

His July move also confirms Werner will not play for Leipzig in the Champions League quarter-finals in August.

He added: "I look forward to next season with my new team-mates, my new manager and of course the Chelsea fans.

"Together we have a successful future ahead of us."

Chelsea director Marina Granovskaia says the club is "excited" to have one of Europe's "most coveted players" heading to Stamford Bridge.

"He has that rare mix of being young and exciting and yet established and proven," she added.

Werner is Chelsea's second signing for next season after they completed a £37m deal for Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech in February.

Kepa Arrizabalaga release clause fee paid as Chelsea officials and player’s agent meet at La Liga’s office in Madrid.

Representatives of Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Chelsea were present at La Liga’s office in Madrid on Wednesday morning to officially pay the €80 million (£71.6m) release clause for the Spain shot-stopper to complete his move to Stamford Bridge.

With Thibaut Courtois likely to leave for Real Madrid sometime this month, Chelsea have identified Kepa as their new number 1 and the Blues tied up a deal quickly to complete the transfer before Thursday’s Premier League deadline.

Margarita Garay, executive director of the Bahia Internacional agency, was accompanied by four Spain-based lawyers and two representatives of Chelsea, Enric Ripoll and Paolo Torchetti, in Madrid on Wednesday morning.
The €80m fee was officially paid at the La Liga base in the Spanish capital at 9:22 CET, making Kepa the world’s most expensive goalkeeper. The 23-year-old will travel to London to link up with the Blues on Wednesday afternoon.

Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic will have medical at Chelsea on Wednesday ahead of a loan move, Sky Sports News understands.

Chelsea were offered Kovacic on a season-long loan, plus £35m, as part of a swap-deal for Thibaut Courtois.

Goalkeeper Courtois is expected to arrive at Real Madrid on Thursday ahead of completing a move to the Santiago Bernabeu, according to Sky sources in Belgium.
It is understood Courtois was in Belgium on Wednesday morning awaiting permission from Chelsea to fly to Madrid to undergo a medical.

Kovacic, 24, expressed his desire to leave Real Madrid in search of first-team football during the World Cup.

He was part of Croatia's squad but played just 183 minutes of their run to the final.
The midfielder was limited to just 10 La Liga appearances last season.

He told Marca earlier this year: "I understand the situation but that's why I think it's best for me to go to another club where I will have the chance to play regularly as a starter.

Agent confirms Chelsea's bid for Juventus defender Daniele Rugani - but there's a catch.

Chelsea have been heavily linked with a move for Daniele Rugani this summer.

The Blues have made two signings this summer, with Jorginho following new head coach Maurizio Sarri from Napoli to Stamford Bridge as well as Rob Green for free.

But Chelsea are expected to be busy in the final two weeks of the transfer window and Rugani is one of the players linked with joining the Italian ahead of the new season.

Chelsea were thought to be on the verge of a huge double deal for Rugani and Gonzalo Higuain last week, with owner Roman Abramovich reportedly stepping in to personally get the deals over the line.
However, while the Blues have placed a bid for the 23-year-old defender, their path to signing him could be blocked by Juventus.

Rugani's agent Davide Torchia was speaking about his client's future on RadioVS today and admitted that the Old Lady do not want to lose the centre-back.
He is reported as saying: "The Blues really like Rugani and have made an important offer. Juve are aware of the interest of Chelsea but for now they don’t want to sell the player.

"We know everything has a price, Rugani is a defender that would make Chelsea’s manager happy and it would be a good investment for Chelsea.
