We are deeply saddened by the loss and destruction in Nepal's northern districts. Families are grieving. Communities are struggling.
But in times like these, clarity matters.
The floods you're seeing on the news are real and they are geographically contained to the Langtang - Rasuwa - Dhading corridor, triggered by a glacial outburst in that river system.
The rest of Nepal stands unaffected:
- Everest · Annapurna · Mustang · Dolpo
- Kathmandu · Pokhara · Lumbini
- Chitwan · Bardiya
- KTM Airport & domestic flights running on schedule
From Kathmandu's temples to Pokhara's lakeside, life continues. Plans don't need to be cancelled just rerouted thoughtfully.
This is not a sales pitch. It's an honest update for those who need it.
Grieve with us. Support the north. And if you travel, do it with compassion

Nepal contributes just 0.1% of global emissions, yet faces some of the harshest climate impacts on Earth melting glaciers, deadly floods and vanishing livelihoods.
Development doesn't have to mean destruction. With the right science, planning and community-first infrastructure, we can build a Nepal that's safer and more resilient.
This isn't about sympathy it's about partnership.

Major Flood Surge Hits Nepal’s BHOTE KOSHI, RASUWA → TRISHULI RIVER
A sudden and catastrophic flood surge originating from the Tibet side swept through the Bhote Koshi Valley this morning (26 August 2026). The surge caused extensive destruction in Timure and Syabrubesi before moving into the Trishuli system, sweeping away houses, bridges, roads and hydropower infrastructure.
Search and rescue operations are ongoing as authorities work to assess the full human and structural impact. The cause of the surge which occurred despite no rainfall in the Rasuwa area remains under investigation.
URGENT SAFETY NOTICE FOR THE WHITEWATER COMMUNITY:
The Bhote Koshi–Trishuli corridor is currently an active flood-risk zone. Do not enter affected river sections. Please exercise extreme caution.
Our thoughts are with the people of Rasuwa and all affected communities during this devastating time.

- Warm clothing and proper layering system
- Gloves carry a spare pair

Walking in crampons.
Using an ice axe.
Ascending a fixed rope with a Jumar.
Moving safely while clipped into a fixed line.
These skills can be taught and practiced during the expedition, but arriving with basic familiarity makes a big difference.
And remember:
At 6,189 m, fitness alone is not enough.
Altitude, cold, exposure and technical terrain all matter.
PREPARE FOR THE MOUNTAIN YOU ARE ACTUALLY CLIMBING.
CHECK YOUR GEAR.
PRACTISE YOUR SKILLS.
RESPECT THE ALTITUDE.
HOP OUTDOORS
EXPLORE. ASCEND. ENDURE.
