Venues Ōtautahi is looking to grow our team of talented chefs, ranging from junior to experienced to join our culinary team.

Casual Chef roles with plenty of hours available.

We pay a minimum of living wage $23.65 per hour.

Based in our production kitchen at Christchurch Arena, you will be part of our experienced kitchen team delivering exclusive events from 5 up to 5,000 covers.

This is a high-end production role where your ability to analyse and execute preparation schedules is crucial. Success in this role will be driven by your ability to produce food to international standards and bridging the gap between á la carte and events food will be essential.

You will be a self-starter with the ability to think on your feet, in what can be a fast paced and challenging environment. Our guests deserve a great experience, so with the support of a fantastic team, you will help us ensure that is exactly what they get.

Ideal candidates will have:
- A minimum of 2-3 years' experience in a similar role
- Previous experience in a commercial kitchen
- A professional cooking qualification (desirable)
- Proven ability to meet deadlines and deliver to a set standard in a demanding environment
- A valid NZ work permit

In preparation for a return to delivering events, Venues Ōtautahi is excited to be accepting expressions of interest for casual Car Parking Crew to join our casual staffing pool.

As a member of the Car Parking team, you will assist with the safe and seamless arrival and departure of guests and deliver first and last impressions, so it goes without saying that exceptional customer service comes naturally to you. The work is busy, challenging and based outdoors so plenty of energy and enthusiasm is required whatever the weather!

The role is based on our 7-day operations for which various shifts will be rostered.

About You

Ideal candidates will have:

- A valid NZ work permit
- Physically fit and able to work on your feet for long periods
- Previous experience in the Event industry desirable but not essential
- Proven ability to interact with customers and the public
- Fully vaccinated against Covid-19

Sandwich Hand / Food Preparation - Casual

About the Role

In preparation for a return to delivering events, Venues Ōtautahi is accepting expressions of interest for casual sandwich hands to join our casual staffing pool. As part of the team ready to hit the ground running when restrictions on mass gatherings end and we are back in business, you will be provided with the training and knowledge required to ensure our standards are met, and you will contribute to our ongoing goal of raising our service to new levels.

Based in our production kitchen at Christchurch Arena, you will be part of our experienced kitchen team delivering exclusive events from 5 up to 5,000 covers.

You will be a self-starter with the ability to think on your feet, in what can be a fast-paced and challenging environment assisting with all aspects of basic food preparation, from sandwich making to salad preparation, whilst adhering to hygiene, food safety standards and procedures. Our guests deserve a great experience, so with the support of a fantastic team, you will help us ensure that is exactly what they get.

Shifts are Monday to Friday, daytime flexible hours with weekend work also available.

Venues Ōtautahi owns and manages Christchurch Town Hall and Christchurch Arena on behalf of the people of Christchurch and manages the Air Force Museum of New Zealand, Orangetheory Stadium and Hagley Oval Pavilion. Venues Ōtautahi is also responsible for the operation and management of the new Canterbury Multi Use Arena. These iconic venues play a valued role to the Christchurch way of life and the economic prosperity and social wellbeing of the region.

About You
Ideal candidates will have:
• A valid NZ work permit
• One years’ experience in a kitchen desirable but not essential
• Basic knife skills
