THANK YOU:

Behind the scenes of every successful indoor bowls tournament, you’ll find a team of volunteers who have given a tremendous amount of time and effort over the weekend and leading up to it.

Upper Hutt’s Wayne Tough was the main driver of this big event, helping secure sponsorship deals, laying out mats and bowls, and the general running of the weekend.

He was backed by a number of others who helped source raffle prizes, act as hall controllers, put away mats and bowls, and other miscellaneous tasks. The Matside Production team were also on hand for live-streaming the finals.

Umpire John Hunt was at the bowls from start to finish for four days straight offering his services. A mammoth effort which was greatly appreciated by all. Here he is pictured below.

Well done Upper Hutt for hosting a fantastic tournament.

BADGEMAKERS CUP: Players of the Tournament

Grant L’Ami, Mike Phipps, Paul Smith and James Sullivan all had a superb tournament over the long weekend and share Player of the Tournament status.

Grant L’Ami and Mike Phipps came away with a win in the pairs and a runner up in the fours, while James Sullivan won the fours and placed third equal in the triples. While Paul Smith may not have come away with a medal, he certainly came close with a third equal in the triples and second in the fours. Of course he was also second in the singles on Sunday, but that was separate to the island championships.

Other post section wins are also taken into account, thus landing them on the same number. Congratulations guys!
