This season was so different to the last one.
Jax has just completed his second full year in Ministocks and boy was it a scorcher.

There were multiple highs and a couple lows but we did it we travelled , he raced, he competed and he stayed in the top 20 in every race completed . His lowest finishing position in a race was 16th out of 26+ per race.

Throughout the season we had a lot of laughs and Jaxon made us proud!

1 trip to the refs box all season because of a family that doesn't like us . (Protested us on a 6th place on a club night 😆)

Next season we are aiming for more .
Two trips planned for the South Island and then tick off the last two north island tracks for us at Hawkes bay and Wellington.

We also had a huge season with the v8 and Luke and will write that up in the next few days.

🏁 Taipa Speedway Percy Poharama kings birthday challenge 30th and 31st of May 2026 🏁

Firstly we would love to thank Fredo Morgan for organising the event , putting so much love into it and letting us be apart of it again for the third year . This is our most favourite event because of the memories we get to make with so many families. This year we had 39 families and 74 drivers competing over four groups .

Jaxon raced in the kings group with 15 other drivers and managed to get 5 races done before the rain came.

Race 1 - Grid 11 ➡️ 8th place
Race 2 - Grid 13 ➡️ 3rd place
Race 3 - Grid 15 ➡️ 3rd place
Race 4 - Grid 1 ➡️ 1st place 🏁
Race 5 - Grid 3 ➡️ 3rd place

This placed Jax 🥇equal overall for the weekend with 23R Blair Hume from Ministock 23R racing team.

Big congratulation to Blair , Ministock 99A Carlos on 🥈and Kaiden Beale on 🥉and also all the kings for the spectacular racing.
Sending heaps of love to cousin Steven 82A after his big roll (he's doing good though he's a champ) , Jake 8A and Ella Vercoe 116P after having a crash and hurting themselves.

We also couldn't let Luke miss out on some fun out on track so shoved him in Jax's ministock in the adult class with 16 other parents and ex ministock drivers.

Race 1 - Grid 9 ➡️ 4th
Race 2 - Grid 1 ➡️ 1st
Race 3 - Grid 11 ➡️ 3rd
Race 4 - Grid 1 ➡️ 1st

This placed Luke 🥈 overall for the weekend next to stockcar driver Tony Coxhead in 🥇 place and Alice 95a ex ministock driver in 🥉place.

Luke had a bloody epic battle with Tony in the last race before the rain hit that showed Ministocks can battle next to eachother the whole race without touching. Was awesome to see 🔥

The memories created with all the families is what we love about racing, the banter, the laughs and the fun is what you can't beat.
Taipa creates memories we will all hold onto forever and makes us excited to be going into the offseason prepping for next year traveling around with these awesome families.

Huge thanks to Martine, Steve , Ashley, Haydyn and all the Taipa speedway team for letting us all be there and race, to all the families we thank you for being there , helping out and enjoying your weekend welcome to the new ones and congratulations to your little ones on starting their racing journey.

This now completes Jaxon's second full season in Ministocks.

And we are off on our favourite adventure, heading north to Taipa

**UPDATE , Meeting Cancelled . Second to last race meeting for the season coming up for Luke and Jaxon at Huntly Speedway for the Meremere Dirt Track Club end of season special event.

🏁 Meremere Dirt Track Club 2026 Funday 🏁

Today brought back our why, the reason we do this thing we love, the reason we try so hard for all the kids and family's and the reason we race at meremere. The smiles on the kids, parents and friends faces make it all worth the hard times.

Today we went down to the annual Meremere funday. We took Jax's Ministock down for his friends and family to drive.

We also picked up Aidan Hignett-Morgan as it was his birthday and he turned 12 so meant he could have a skid in Jax's car at Meremere.

We arrived at the track and watched a few cars on the drag strip then headed around back to the dirt track where we let Amaia have a skid on her kart while it wasn't busy in the pits.

Race 1 - Aidan in 28A and Kingston in 65H.
Kingston led the race from start all the way to the white flag where he pulled over and waited for the birthday boy to go past him to get his first chequered flag at MM and win the race for his birthday . The things these kids do for eachother beyond amazes me. (Funniest thing Aidan had no idea what was going on and almost came to a stop next to Kingston and Kingston waved him on) Kingston is a champ for doing this for Aidan.

Race 2 - Luke in 28A and Stacey in 65H.
Stacey's first race on a track and she loved it and Luke had a ball playing in the ministock while the v8 was tucked away at home waiting for next weekend.

Race 3 - Kingston in 28A and Stacey in 65H.
Kingston took off from the start coming around to lap his mum and stopped next to her and waved before passing her on the chequered. Cheeky bu**er but was so special to see him race him mum.

Race 4 - Jaxon in 65H and Sunny in 28A.
Jaxon took off from his mum but didn't quite have enough to catch up to her and go pass but came home with the win and also another special moment of being able to race his mum.

Race 5 - Nick Filmer in 65H and Derek Manns in 28A.
This race was a competition race between two cheeky buggars. They came and asked if they could use the Ministocks for a bragging rights challenge because they both love some good banter like we do. Derek took off from the start and led for the first corner until Nick passed him and won the race.

Race 6 - Kingston in 28A and Aidan in 65H.
Last race of the day and the kiddos had a ball. Aidan enjoyed his birthday racing and Kingston had a ball in Jax's car racing with Aidan.

Jax was also lucky enough to drive his mum and step dad's car in the juniors races against Charlotte a seasoned junior.

It was Jax's first time driving the "RIGHT" way on track and in a front wheel drive car. He took off from the start and kept the lead. First chequered flag in a dirt track car.

Second and third race Charlotte showed her skills and won the races.

Jax doesn't seize to amaze us with his resilience, sportsmanship and skills when racing out on track no matter what he's driving. We are so proud of you kid. Don't let others get you down bro!

Two more weeks of racing left for us before we move into off season work.

Change of plans for the weekend we are taking Jaxon's car for his friends and family to have a play at the Meremere Dirt track funday.

If you've got nothing to do bring ya ministock and kid and have a play $30 for the car if it's not a registered Meremere dirt track car and as many drivers in the car the club will allow between the age of 12-17 and they must sign the indemnity form. A few hours of fun where Ash and Luke started racing.

Pack some lunch as no food caravans and come have abit of fun.

Last time we went they let us run adults in the car too, Luke might need a practice in Jax's car before taipa at kings birthday where you'll see Luke racing with 15 other parents/siblings for a chance to get an epic sash.

🏁 Awapuni Speedway 8th and 9th of May 🏁
Advanced Automotive Ministock 1200

Firstly we would love to thank Fredo Morgan and Jerry for towing Jax and his car down to Gizzy for us while we said goodbye to Mine and Jaxon's sister as she flew off to Australia to work for a couple of years.

Friday saw myself pretty upset wanting something to keep my mind off her leaving and I thought why not be with Jax and our racing whanau to keep my mind off it so I booked some flights and off we went.

First night at Awapuni Jax managed to qualify 2nd overall in his group in the seniors which was his first time competing in this grade as he's 14 now.

He qualified along side his cousin Steven and some unreal drivers including our Auckland team mate 17A Korbin Seales.

First race Jax started 20th and managed to work his way up to 7th place.

Second race Jax felt very uneasy on the dummy grid starting in 7th position knowing there were some drivers out there that would do anything to win. I told him to be calm, drive the same as he normally does and stay down low. This race was his worst race of the weekend, he was running in 2nd having a good battle with the front runners until he got hit and pushed up to the wall. He then slowed down and let the huge bunch of cars go past him and managed to get back down and finish in 13th.

Going into the last race he knew he wasn't in contention for a podium finish so just wanted to have some fun he started 13 and got his way up to 4th where he finished.

Unfortunately his last race with our mate Vinzent MacGregor ended with him rolling and fracturing 4 of his vertebra. We have sent our well wishes to Vin and his family and like everyone are saddened to have seen this incident happen when Vinny was the driver we look up to and 100% thought with his skill would have taken out the champs.

Jaxon cannot wait to race with you again in the future whether it's tqs or saloons. Best of luck and speedy recovery Vin.

Jaxon finished his first senior champs in 6th place overall out of 66 seniors.

We have two race meets left for us then we will re group over the off season and make sure Ministocks is still something Jax wants to do.

Next up we have the Meremere dirt track special event at Huntly Speedway on the 23rd of May and then one of our favourite meetings at Taipa Speedway where we love the entire weekend With some bloody awesome people.

Best of luck to all the kids competing at Oxford this weekend can't wait to give it a go next season if Jax still wants to race in the Ministock class.
