🥁🎸 Learn with TEHAKAIKI this Term 3! 🌺

We’re excited to welcome TEHAKAIKI as our special guest tutor this Term 3 at Ahuuranui Tahiti!

For a limited time, he’ll be teaching both:

🥁 ‘Upa’upa – Traditional Tahitian Drumming
🎸 ’Uturere – Tahitian Ukulele & Reo Tahiti through Songs

Whether you’ve always wanted to learn the rhythms of Tahitian drumming or play and sing traditional songs on the ukulele, this is a rare opportunity to learn directly from an experienced Mā’ohi musician right here in Aotearoa.

By joining these courses, you’re not only learning from TEHAKAIKI —you’ll also be supporting another Mā’ohi artist and the dedicated team of Mā’ohi behind Ahuuranui Tahiti who are working hard to keep our language, music, arts, and culture alive through New Zealand’s first official Tahitian Arts School, now growing into a Mā’ohi Cultural Institution.

⚠️ Please note: TEHAKAIKI will only be teaching until Monday 17 August, before returning overseas. Don’t miss this unique opportunity!

🌺 What a night! 💛

A huge māuruuru to everyone who came along to Teumere’s masterclasses! It was so awesome seeing so many of you learning, laughing, challenging yourselves, and enjoying every moment.

From the powerful ‘Ōte’a to the beautiful ’Aparima, Teumere shared so much with us. We’re so grateful she took the time to come and teach here in Aotearoa. Thank you, Teumere, for sharing your knowledge, your passion, and your energy with us. We wish you all the best for everything ahead and hope to welcome you back again soon! 🌺

We already miss you T’7 ♥️🇵🇫

A very special māuruuru also goes to our incredible live musicians, Arohi Rohi Pehe Tahiti i Aotearoa . Having live music makes such a difference, and we’re especially grateful to TEHAKAIKI Matheo for leading the team and generously sharing his amazing knowledge and skills with us. If you’ve ever wanted to learn traditional Tahitian drumming, make sure you keep an eye out for his ‘Upa’upa classes this term—you won’t want to miss this opportunity!

And thank you to everyone who came, supported, and stayed afterwards for our little farewell. It really meant a lot. 💛

✨ Don’t forget! Our FREE Trial Night is happening next Monday, 13 July. Come along, try a class, meet the team, and see what Ahuuranui Tahiti is all about!

More practicing with some of the OGs of Tahiti Ia Ora Troupe for Aunty Tua funeral and family visit on.

Reminiscing the old days when some of us used to choreograph, dance, and drum for the group in our skinny days! 👀🤣

Why is it during funerals that most of us gather?
