IMPORTANT NOTICE

Due to significant renovations at Mt Eden Memorial Hall, all the monthly Summit Rapid Chess tournaments scheduled from May to December this year will be relocated to an alternative venue. Please note that the tournament dates for June and July have been revised; we encourage all participants to download and save the updated schedule.
The new venue will be the Waipuna Hotel and Convention Centre, which previously hosted the Bob Wade Championship earlier this year. The New Zealand Congress has also taken place in this facility in prior years, providing an improved environment for players. We anticipate that participants will benefit from these enhanced conditions, supporting both their performance and development.

Just a friendly reminder that the next Summit Monthly Rapid will be held on next Sunday, on 5th April, from 1pm-5:30pm.

Three divisions:

Open, FIDE and NZCF Rapid rated;
U1600, FIDE and NZCF Rapid rated, and
U1000, NZCF rapid rated.

Format: Six-round Swiss, 15mins+5 secs.

Venue: Mt Eden Memorial Hall, 487-489 Dominion Road, Mt Eden, Auckland
Parking Information: behind the building and is accessible only from Brixton Road.

Summit Rapid 05 April Open

A Rapid chess tournament, organized by the Hobby Chess, will be held in the Hobsonville area. The organizer is Mr. Roshan Gallagher, a FIDE Instructor, National Arbiter & APC Coach.

All are welcome to participate.

Congratulations to Yanbo Jin and Daqi Mao for being named joint champions of the Open division at the Summit Rapid Chess Tournament on March 8th. Vera Xu took first place in the U1600 division, while Kaiyi Cao secured victory in the U1000 (Junior) Group. Their achievements are the result of dedication and passion for chess. Congratulations as well to all other winners and to everyone who participated and enjoyed the event.

Summit Rapid 08 Mar U1000

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, Summit Chess Club has been hosting Arena Rapid chess tournaments every Tuesday evening from 7 PM to 9 PM on the chess.com platform.

The tournaments are still ongoing :)

If you enjoy playing free 7+3 rapid chess against real people (especially if most of the players are people you know), you're welcome to join us for two hours of fun.

The tournament platform is chess.com. You'll need to log in to your chess.com account and then register to join our online club, “Summit Chess Club NZ.” Please be sure to register using your real name or put your real name under the reference area.
