We have had some holiday guests here for the last week. Linkin, and two ponies, Sugar and Madam, have come to stay while their family is off in the South Island for 10 days. Linkin is in lock up due to injury, she is being kept in a 4m by 4m pen, poor girl, but she is coping very well. She gets a new patch morning and night, as well as twice daily feeds. The ponies are also in small pen paddocks as they don’t need very much grass. If you have any horses/ponies with injury or dietary requirements that need looking after while you are away don’t hesitate to get in touch.

We offer total care agistment to retired horses whose owners want their old boy or girl to receive all the love and attention they deserve, but whose own circumstances or commitments mean they are struggling to find the time to provide it themselves.
Note to self, if all is quiet, the baby is up to mischief!🤣❤️ Sorry Ava, Isla and Sienna for Carrots appalling treatment of your grooming kit farm warming gift!
We have a couple of other residents here that are not equine. Both Pekins, I found Joey (on the left) on the side of the road at our old house, while we were moving to our current one. She was there for two days before I caught her and I assumed she was hurt because she couldn’t fly but turns out Pekins can’t, their bodies are too big for their tiny wings. She was starving and fly blown all over her head, as well as blind in one eye and not particularly agile. Fortune would have it that our new house came with two large chicken paddocks so I popped her in there. She was very depressed though, sat in her little house all day, only coming outside after dark to sit some more. I knew that ducks need company, so I purchased Snowy (in the water) from a lady down the road. Overnight Joey came around, following Snowy everywhere, if at a somewhat more sedate pace (Snowy is turbo charged) Their new favourite game is for me to tip the water from their shell pond into the hole it sits in, so they can forage in the mud. They love it!🦆🦆
Hoover buddies!❤️
So we have another introduction, this one is not old or retired, this is 4yr old TB Carrot, bought for me to ride. Carrots intro to Tio and Fox was pretty easy, Tio wasn’t interested other than laying down the law (I am the boss, keep your distance and stay away from my girlfriend), but Fox thought that Carrot had been bought for him personally as a play buddy and was ecstatic!

This poor Cheepins has a dust up with my ranchslider window. Found him a bit stunned on the floor. Luckily he will live to tell the story, I took him over to the trees and he flew away. Just needed a moment. I love birds, especially Silver Eyes. So tiny, so cute!!🐥🐥🐥

Raf and Muffin had a visit from the neighbours yesterday. I’m going to say his name is Houdini, as I don’t know how he managed to get in there, nor how he got out as when we came the next morning to move him he was back in his paddock.🐮🤷♀️

Tio has fallen for blonde bombshell, Muffin, even though he has been told she is far too young for him.😂 Everybody moved paddocks and Tio packed a massive tantrum as Muffin and Raf were moved first and he was left behind. He galloped up and down the fenceline and was very impatient to be reunited with his love.❤️Fox had no idea what the big rush was but was happy to play the game anyway! @ Waiau Pa, New Zealand
We have two new guests, Raf (the bay) and Muffin, who are here temporarily while between properties. Don’t forget, we offer short term care for your ponies, should you go away on holiday or even if you are injured and need extra help.
