Due to the overwhelming response and strong interest from players wanting to represent Team Pilipinas, we have decided to bring forward the EOI closing date so we can begin finalising teams and preparing for the tournament.

WHAT HAPPENS NEXT?

Following the EOI closing date, our coaching and organising team will begin:

✅ Reviewing all EOIs
✅ Confirming player numbers across age groups
✅ Finalising team selections
✅ Communicating selection and next steps
✅ Organising uniforms and tournament requirements
✅ Preparing teams for the First Nations Polynesian Tournament

Please note: Submitting an EOI does not guarantee selection. Final selections will be based on age-group eligibility, team numbers, player requirements and overall team considerations.

The response has been incredible, and we don't want anyone who is genuinely interested to miss the opportunity.

This is an incredible milestone for our programme, and we are extremely proud of every player who have the opportunity to represent PhilNZReps on the court.

To our U12, U14, U16 and U18 athletes, this is your moment. Go out there, compete hard, play for each other, respect the game, and most importantly, enjoy the experience!

What started with just 3 teams last year has grown into something we are incredibly proud of.

This year, PhilNZReps is bringing 9 teams to HoopNation Classic! 🔥

That growth is more than just numbers. It represents more young Pinoy-Kiwi athletes getting an opportunity to compete, develop, connect, and showcase themselves in the premier league in New Zealand.

Our goal has always been bigger than basketball.

We want to continue building a platform for our Pinoy-Kiwi youth to gain valuable tournament experience, play against strong competition, build confidence, develop their skills, and most importantly, have opportunities to be seen.

Every tournament, every game, every training session, and every opportunity creates another pathway for our young athletes to grow.

From 3 teams to 9 teams in just one year, this is a testament to the commitment of our players, coaches, parents, volunteers, and the entire PhilNZReps community. ❤️

We are proud to represent a wider community of Philippine-New Zealand youth on the basketball court and to show our young athletes that opportunities are waiting for them if they are willing to put in the mahi.

IMPORTANT CLARIFICATION – “QUALIFYING” & MANILA LIVE AGE GROUPS

We want to clarify some confusion around the term “qualifying” when it comes to age-group basketball in New Zealand for Manila Live.

There is no single qualifying pathway that applies to every age group, competition, representative programme or international opportunity in New Zealand.

PLAYER & TEAM SELECTION IS NOT ALWAYS ABOUT “QUALIFYING”

We encourage players and parents to look at the actual eligibility and selection criteria for the age group they are interested in, rather than relying on the general statement that a player must “qualify” through a particular New Zealand competition.

Let's make sure our young players receive accurate information, genuine opportunities and clear pathways to continue developing their basketball.

FILIPINO RISING STARS 2026 – DUNEDIN! 🇵🇭🇳🇿🏀

We are proud to support and be part of this exciting collaboration bringing together Filipino basketball organisations from across New Zealand, this time in South Island. 🤝🇵🇭🇳🇿

The Filipino Rising Stars Basketball Tournament is coming to Edgar Centre, Dunedin, on 24–25 October 2026, providing a great opportunity for young Filipino athletes to compete, develop, connect, and showcase their talent.

📍 Edgar Centre Sports Complex, Dunedin

This initiative is a collaborative effort between Dunedin Filipino Sports Inc., Ballers Hoops Academy, Canterbury Ballers Club (CBC), TFBC Kids, and Philippine-New Zealand Basketball Reps (PhilNZReps).

For our Filipino youth down south, this is more than just a tournament. It's an opportunity to build friendships, gain valuable competition experience, and continue growing the Filipino basketball community nationwide.
