A good day of learning for a small group of our kids who headed down to the Pukekohe Open over the weekend 👊

For a few of them, it was their first time competing, and that’s a big step in itself.

Competing teaches you things that you just can’t learn in the gym. How to handle nerves, how to deal with pressure, and how to keep going when things don’t quite go your way.

Not everyone came home with a medal, but everyone came home with something to work on, and that’s what these days are all about.

One thing you’ll notice about us is that we don’t just post the winning days. Win, lose, or draw, I’m proud of the way our kids represent Daredevil. They support each other, show respect, listen to their coaches, and give it a crack.

Now we take what we learned, get back on the mats this week, and keep improving.

Big congrats to Simon on earning his Blue Belt this week 💙

One thing we really respect at is when parents decide to jump on the mats themselves to understand what their kids are actually going through in Jiu Jitsu.

It’s easy to watch from the sidelines 😅 but once you train yourself, you quickly realise how tough Jiu Jitsu really is.

Since joining us, has built a solid Jiu Jitsu game, but more importantly, it’s been awesome seeing how much better he’s been able to support his daughter through training and competitions with a real understanding of what she needs.

Unfortunately for us, Simon and his whānau are heading off on an epic Europe adventure ✈️🌍 🇮🇪 so we’ll be losing them for the meantime.

They’ve become a much loved part of the Daredevil team and our doors will always be open for them when they’re back home 💙

Safe travels guys — enjoy the adventure and we’ll hopefully see you back on the mats again soon 👊

Big congrats to Tatiana on earning her Blue Belt this week 👏💙

When Tatiana first came to she was super shy and quiet, so it’s been pretty awesome watching not only her Jiu Jitsu grow, but her confidence too.

At grading, Tatiana shared that training has helped her confidence not just in the gym, but outside of it as well — and honestly, that’s one of the coolest parts about what we do.

We’re really proud of the work she’s put in and can’t wait to keep watching her journey continue 💙

We’ve got something for everyone these school holidays 👊

Our first camp is all about competition prep — but we know not everyone’s on that path, and that’s all good.

So we’re running a second holiday camp focused on building skills, getting solid rounds in, and just enjoying your Jiu Jitsu.

Expect:
• Skill development
• Sparring games
• Good energy on the mats
• And a whole lot of fun

Time: 9am – 12pm

Grading days are always a special one for us 👊

It’s not just about belts — it’s about recognising the hard work, discipline, and most importantly, the attitude these kids bring on and off the mats.

As coaches, it’s something we take seriously. Watching the growth, the effort, and the way they carry themselves… that’s what it’s really about.

Massive congrats to all the kids who graded — every belt here is well earned and we’re proud of each of you.
