The most perfect marama for Matariki tau hou Māori 2026. And the most beautiful medals to commemorate the Matariki swim. Only decided on Wednesday to have these medals, thanks Robin for great job. The string, coconut sennit "afa" from Sāmoa, brought it with me on Wednesday for this very swim.

Matariki Swim - Friday 10 July @ 10 am
This is the annual journey swim at Matariki. This year, it runs from the Tāmaki Yacht Club to Kohimarama Beach. Entry is $30 to cover boat & travel costs, and kayakers.
Schedule:
9:00, meet at Kohi beach
9:30. dep car share to the start
9:50, swim briefing
10:00, swim start
11:00, ETA finish
11-12:00, bring and share Kai and drinks at our HQ on the lawn in Kohi. Ocean Swim Club members - discount for members.

Sāmoa International Marathon 4 July
Fantastic event with over 100 runners across five distances. This is the marathon field from China (2), USA (3), Japan (1), Australia (3), Fiji (1), Aotearoa New Zealand (2), Sāmoa (4). Heading home on Wednesday for the Matariki Swim on Friday.
On my way to the Solstice swim at Kohimarama, I met up with Ingrid at the Auckland Domain for a chat about running the Sāmoa International Marathon on July 4. It’s Ingrid’s second marathon with us, at the same time, celebrating a personal milestone. Ingrid is a member of the prestigious 400-marathon club. On this trip, she is running two marathons on consecutive weekends in Pago Pago, American Sāmoa and ours in Apia for her 408th and 409th marathons.
