Great walk yesterday

An important project for the sustainability of the trail.

Norte into Arzúa yesterday. Empty roads and happy cows.

Combined with the Francis this morning - lots more people!

In the clouds today west of Mondonedo. A bit like NZ - mist, rain, cold and generally not nice.

Then dropped down out of the hills to warm sun. 😀

About 135km to Santiago de Compostela

I think it’s a special part of the Norte around Mondonedo.

The cathedral was beautiful, the views are stunning, and the animals are the friendliest we have encountered on our pilgrimage so far.

It’s been a wonderful day.

Sometimes Northern Spain is just like NZ - cold driving rain, plantation forests of eucalyptus and ‘bridges to nowhere’.

Had a great day leaving Aviles - even with the conditions it was a wonderful walk.

The view from the bedroom at our hostel in the (old) Monastery de Santa Maria de Valdedois.

Tucked at the head of the valley it is a junction between the Camino del Norte and the Camino Primitivo.

Another amazing place to spend the night.

Great day walking into Llanes.

Majority off road and along the edge of rhe ocean.

Spectacular scenery, and Llanes is a beautiful town with a great beach.
