Huge interest in the Elipse aircraft at Field Days!

What a fantastic day after the last couple of weeks.
Four of us decided to take advantage of the good forecast and spend the day flying. It has been almost 2 months the since some of us have been flying so we did a couple of circuits to sharpen up first.
First flight was to Te Kuiti where we met the locals who fly in every Sunday for “Sunday school” as they call it.
Normally accompanied by scones and jam made by their wives, these guys are mostly farmers with their own airstrips and a variety of Cessnas.

Beautiful day for flying today. Duane took a student for lessons then we flew to Waihi beach. Quite challenging as it was my first time there and the approach to 31 is a curved approach. Yeah!!
From there we are now sitting in a cafe in Pauanui.
Living’ the life!

Another great ‘Blacksands’ fly in this year. Over 30 aircraft, great turnout considering the strong winds.

A few brave souls went off and did the beach landing. Unfortunately not me as I had to get back to Mercer for a lesson

Duane and Dino flew to Thames today to help them out with a few flying lessons until they get a new plane.
Afterwards we flew around the Firth of Thames to Kaiaua, up and over Waiheke then a left hand orbit of Rangitoto. Not a bad day for flying. Bit bumpy on the western side of any hills as there was an easterly blowing today.

Fabulous days flying today with 91yr old Pat! Even with her artificial hip and recently healed broken ankle she was able to get into the Alpi for our 1 hr flight around Auckland region.

She’s officially the oldest person I’ve taken flying at 91 and Taylah the youngest at 3.5yrs (in the trike from Raglan a few years ago)

Managed a quick fly along the west coast today and inland to Pukekawa strip for coffee.

After Hawera, we flew to W(h)anganui. This time to drop a person there and also to fuel up.
After leaving Whanganui we made a straight line through Taumaranui, Te Kuiti to Mercer.
Another fantastic flying day.
