Results - OAC Triples July 16th

A marginally less number of teams than has been the case recently, 28 in total fronted on a reasonable day given Winter is supposedly upon us. With a good smattering of our regular visitors in attendance again, anticipation was rife and hopes were high of making the prize winners list.

The competition was extremely close with x3 four winners and x6 three winners vying for the five prizes on offer, with differential (and points for) required to seperate the top three, and the fourth and fifth placed teams. The top five teams unbelievably all with 20 ends.

Quad Challenge - Friday July 10th - Matariki - round two of four at the Hobsonville Bowling Club.
This 1-8 year competition with a real focus on our 1-5 year players was held under perfect conditions with a nigh on cloudless sky, and the slightest breeze.
With 4 teams of Mixed Fours from each of the participating clubs, Orewa, Hobsonville, Manly and Browns Bay the atmosphere was a great mix of fun and laughter with a healthy dose of that competitve edge thrown in for good measure.
The outcome at the end of the four games saw just the one team go through unscathed, one of our Orewa teams performing outstandingly to claim the main prize, with our other teams all performing most admirably.
Hobsonville were outstanding hosts with a delicious morning tea courtesy of some delicious home baking from their members, an excellent selection of hot pies and sauasage rolls for lunch, and of course their renowned bar service, with delivery direct to the players courtesy of their roving bar lady Dee.
The next Quad day is set down for Sunday September 6th at the Manly Bowling Club.

DILS FUNERAL SERVICES OAC TRIPLES - July 9th

Another fine, but chilly day lay in store for the 32 teams who lined up for a crack at the GOLD in our weekly Thursday tournament, where an added layer or two for those who came prepared undoubtedly made the day far more comfortable. Another healthy turnout of visiting teams and individual players certainly created a great atmosphere and made for some very closely fought encounters.

We again had the pleasure of welcoming back to our club Louis Potgieter from DILS FUNERAL SERVICES, our sponsor for the day. Louis spoke positively and enthusiastically of DILS ongoing association with Bowls Orewa. We are most appreciative of DILS FUNERAL SERVICES continued and generous support of our club, thankyou.

This week provided the most competitive day we have had for some time, with the 4 game/12 end/2 bowl format perhaps a contributing factor. There was a logjam at the top with x4 four winners and x5 three winners., with differential coming into play to determine second, third and fourth placings.

1st place: Gary Wallace, Peter Clark, Mal Wallace 4w, 32e, 70p

2nd place: Mike, Clint, Blue 4w, 29e, +30 diff
