GILTRAP MOTORS NORTH SHORE - OAC Triples May 28

Four consecutive weeks of glorious Autumn weather has been the norm for the large number of teams we have attending Thursday Triples - 36 this week, with a healthy number of visitors, both first time & regular complementing the large number of our own club members. A great atmosphere, some really good music, and a fair share of friendly rivalry thrown in for good measure.

It was again a real pleasure to welcome back to our club Alan Yates representing our sponsor for the day GILTRAP MOTORS NORTH SHORE. Alan spoke glowingly of both GILTRAP'S and his connection with our club that by his reckoning goes back a considerable number of years. It is fair to say by the end of the day Alan had collected a good number of enquiries for new & used vehicles, something to keep the GILTRAP sales team busy attending to. We most certainly treasure & appreciate the ongoing support from GILTRAP MOTORS NORTH SHORE, and the enthusiasm & committment Alan brings every time he visits our club.

WOW ... what a day of extremely close competition spread over our three greens, some outstanding results being posted, with a quarter of the field being right in the running to make the prize list ... x4 four winners, x4 three & a half, & x1 three winner being the sum total of the 4 game/2 bowl/12 end format.

BNH Champ of Champ Fours - Finals day
Following a convincing victory over Warkworth in their quarter final our gallant Women's Four of Elizabeth Ring, Val Taylor, Jill Green & Vicki Ayson went agonisingly close to securing a coveted finals berth going down oh so narrowly on an extra end after the previous two ends had been killed by the Manly quad when our team were holding multiple shots and the winning of the match on both occassions.
Our ladies showed great resiliance and spirit. After starting slowly and seemingly being just out of reach of getting back into the game they staged an almighty fightback to be right back in the game. To Manly's credit they displayed great courage to hang on and keep battling to the very end, finally overcoming our Four by just two shots.
Outstanding effort by our team and a massive shout out to all our supporters for their encouragement and support.

OAC Triples - May 21st

Another very nice Autumn day greeted our 34 teams for what transpired to be an exciting and extremely closely contested day of bowls. Our steady stream of visiting players & teams continued, unfortunately none of them featured this week when the prizes were being handed out. With three greens in action again those drawn outside for two of their four games were treated again to very pleasant playing conditions.

With our format alternating weekly it was the turn of the 8 end/3 bowl this week, "oh I need that third bowl" was the catch cry of a fair few of the combatants.

As has often been the case with this format the quest for a top five finish and some loot was intense with the x5 four winners, x2 three & a half & x5 three winners confirming this.

1st place: Peter Cavanaugh, Dave Mellor, John Wilde 4w, 25e, 44p

2nd place: Fraser Ayson, Bryce Tippett, John Kendall 4w, 24e, 36p

3rd place: Warren Seeque, Laurie Kean, Shirley Nielsen
4w, 19e, +17 diff (42p for)

4th place: Ted Jackett, Margaret Eames, Gordon Simpson
4w, 19e, +17 diff (41p for)

5th place: Gary Wallace, Peter Clark, Mal Wallace 4w, 19e, +12 diff
