Exercise stress and adaptations

Your body is a phenomenal vessel.
It’s one of the most elegant systems ever designed — efficient, responsive, and extraordinarily precise. It doesn’t build muscle you don’t use. It doesn’t maintain bone density you don’t need. It doesn’t develop balance, coordination, or strength in patterns you never practice.

It builds exactly what you ask of it. Nothing more.

Remove a stress — stop challenging a system — and the body lets it fade away. Why maintain something you’re not using?

The deal your body has always offered you: give me a reason, and I’ll build it.

So give your body movement, a whole variety of movements, give your body a reason to adapt, grow and support you as you age.

Creating good movement patterns so we can transfer these learnings into sports and running.
My favourite human taking Mehir through better running techniques and being efficient in his movements.
one of the best. 🙏🏽

7 years volunteering to coach these phenomenal players.
If anything, they have showed me how to be patient, respectful of how each one of them learns, not all of them are playing to win, for some sports is an outlet and others just want to play with their friends.
Each year, there is a new player who has never played, some have played a little and others hav been playing for a while.
They all have contributed to teamwork, challenged their comfort zone, learnt that team sport is all about supporting your team mates and uplifting them.
Back for another year of grass roots hockey.

I was recommended Vandana as I was seeking a personal trainer to help me build a fitness program to suit my transition into perimenopause and heal from a serious injury.

The last 5 years have been a struggle with employment stress, travel, weight gain and injury. I tried swimming, jogging, gyms, fasting, counting calories and saunas. I was fatiguing constantly and feeling very discouraged with no break through. Vandana wrote me an exercise program that was specific to me, challenging, achievable and safe. She taught me how to adjust my program to suit hormone levels during my cycle. She advised on how to fuel correctly before and after a workout and about carb cycling for rest days.

I have learned a lot about how to make sure my training is periodized properly and has the right amounts of low and high intensity. I’ve introduced heavy lifting and HIIT into my weekly routine and have been consistent for 4 months.

The first few months felt like an adjustment period where my body and mind were getting used to the weights and program type. It was challenging to retrain my mind, that it’s necessary to reduce weights and cardio during cycle week and not feel like a failure. I stuck to the plan and trusted Vandana knew what she was doing.

As a result I am now getting stronger and faster, less fatigued, hormones feel more balanced, more confident and I fit my old jeans. I have finally turned a corner in my health journey and can finally feel and see the physical and mental health benefits. So thank you so much Vandana.

Game day or training day -I feel lazy on days when I have a hockey game or training and I have not had a gym session.
These are some staple movements and my go to exercises, which activates muscles required to play hockey, gets my brain working and brings focus with breath work 🫶🏿
Give them a go as a light warm up session prior to training or playing sports.

After managing and nursing multiple injuries for the past 3 years, here are my discoveries:
Overrated:

motivation over adaptability

Training completely pain free over understanding pain & building capacity

There are days when all the progress made over the years of training, hits pause! A prolonged pause, not weeks or months but years to ups and downs.

The road to adapting mindset for an active person is frustrating to say the least.

But one thing I have learnt through all of these experiences is to keep moving and keep movement in my days.
