๐ Driving Tip: Longer Vehicles Need More Space
Longer vehicles like vans, SUVs, and trucks need more space to manoeuvre and stop safely.
๐ Allow extra following distance
๐ Take wider turns when needed
๐ Give yourself more room when changing lanes
๐ Remember: the longer the vehicle, the more space it needs!
Drive smart. Drive safe. ๐๐จ

๐ DRIVING TEST TIP: HAZARD COMMENTARY DRIVING! ๐
During your driving test, hazard commentary can show that youโre actively observing the road and identifying potential risks.
๐ฃ๏ธ What to comment on:
โข ๐ถ Pedestrians or cyclists near the road
โข ๐ Cars approaching, turning or changing lanes
โข ๐ฆ Intersections, traffic lights and crossings
โข ๐ Parked cars where someone could suddenly step out
โข ๐ซ School zones and busy areas
โข ๐ฃ๏ธ Roadworks, narrow roads or changing road conditions
๐ก TIP: Donโt just say what you see โ explain the hazard and what youโre doing about it.
For example:
๐ฃ๏ธ โPedestrian near the crossing, so Iโm slowing down and preparing to stop.โ
๐ See the hazard. Say the hazard. Take action.
Drive smart, stay alert and show the examiner that youโre thinking ahead! ๐ฏ
Be Patient at Traffic Lights!๐ฆ๐
Green light? Donโt rush! ๐
Take a moment to:
โ
Check your surroundings
โ
Make sure the traffic ahead is moving
โ
Keep a safe following distance
โ
Stay calm and patient
Remember, getting there safely is more important than getting there quickly. ๐

๐ Driving Tip: Know When to Merge
Merging is all about timing, awareness, and confidence. ๐
โ
Check your mirrors and blind spot.
โ
Match the speed of traffic.
โ
Signal early to let other drivers know your intention.
โ
Merge smoothly into a safe gapโdonโt stop unless itโs absolutely necessary.
Remember: A safe merge keeps traffic flowing and helps prevent accidents. Drive smart, stay calm, and be courteous. ๐

A โdid not passโ isnโt a reflection of who you are as a driver โ itโs just feedback. Most learners who donโt pass first time are missing small things: hesitation at roundabouts, observation checks, or just nerves getting the better of them on the day.
Thatโs exactly where we come in.
At Day n Nite Driver Training, we specialise in helping retry students turn setbacks into passes. Our NZTA-approved instructors will pinpoint exactly what held you back, rebuild your confidence behind the wheel, and get you test-ready โ for real this time.
