The regatta weekend in pictures. Thanks to Jack Bao from Murray’s Bay for the photos
Winter Champs regatta was held at Murray’s Bay this weekend and it was great to have 5 boats from around the country attend.
I sailed with Finn Balchin for the 2 days and we sailed quite well considering we just jumped in for the regatta.
We were going fast thanks to Doylesails and enjoyed the weekends racing.
Cross training in action - having a heap of fun foiling - straight lines are okay… corners not so much!

On this cold miserably rainy day in Auckland its nice to look back at the Youth Worlds in Garda....
Loved sailing there but was hoping for more of the famous Ora....

Some photos from the organisers at the Youth Wirkds.
Some good starts in there, and missing summer and the competition.

Cam back again now the event is finished. We are very proud to represent New Zealand at the Youth Worlds.
While we are very disappointed in our results, we are happy with the dedication we put towards this event in our training 5 times a week.
We will get home, decompress, debrief and learn to take towards our own future in this sport of sailing.
We already know our programme wasn’t up to scratch of the top nations and teams.
We never got the garda conditions we were hoping for on our part of the lake for this week. However this isn’t an excuse.
We are unsure of our future steps in the sport but will let you know once we know.
A massive thank you to Yachting New Zealand, NZL Sailing Foundation and all the coaches at the event.
We want to thank our sponsors Zhik and Doyle Sails and our clubs Wakatere Boating Club and Murrays Bay Sailing Club.
Finally to our families for all their time, support and financial backing for the last couple of years. Thank you.

8am start this morning for 3 races. 620am pick up - that’s a good thing for teenage boys!!’
Last day today
18/07/2024
Day 4 has ended with the girls getting 3 races with the wind looking the best in their 2nd race.
The breeze then started to die and the boys waited around for a bit before being sent ashore without a race. Will await to see the plan for tomorrow but it could be a very early start…

Today was a light one with men’s/mixed getting 2 races and the girls only got 1 race.
R1 was a goodie getting a 6th unfortunately r2 in currently the boys drop getting a yellow flag pumping penalty while being in 3rd.
Still three races left and everything to play for

It’s day 3 and the boys are under AP at the moment waiting to see if the breeze will fill in
