Some players leave memories. Some leave a legacy.

Weโ€™ve witnessed both at Kiwitea from Emiliano Tade.

A magician when he played in yellow and blue, scorer of countless special goals, and one of the finest players to grace the New Zealand game.

Congratulations on an incredible career and a very happy retirement, Emi ๐ŸŸก๐Ÿ”ต

Central United Bow Out Fighting in Chatham Cup Clash

Central United faced West Coast Rangers for the first time in club history on another fine afternoon at Kiwitea Street, with a place in the next round of the Chatham Cup up for grabs.

The visitors made the perfect start, taking the lead after just six minutes when Connor Oโ€™Malley finished from close range to put West Coast Rangers ahead. Despite the early setback, Central responded well, tightening up defensively and competing strongly for the remainder of the half. Chances were limited at both ends and the visitors took a 1-0 advantage into the break.

Central emerged for the second half with renewed energy and confidence, creating several promising opportunities. Bogdan Dida was at the centre of much of the home sideโ€™s attacking play as the momentum began to swing in Centralโ€™s favour.

However, it was West Coast Rangers who struck next. In the 58th minute, Benjamin Gallagher capped off a well-worked passing move to double the visitorsโ€™ lead and make it 2-0.

Rather than surrender, Central lifted their intensity and produced their best spell of the match. Their persistence was rewarded when the lively Dida finished clinically to reduce the deficit to 2-1 and breathe life back into the contest.

Unfortunately, the comeback was short-lived. A brief lapse in concentration allowed West Coast Rangers to restore their two-goal cushion almost immediately from the restart through Declan Zasadny, taking the score to 3-1 and putting one foot in the next round.

The final word belonged to West Coastโ€™s impressive No.17, Liam Wolloner, who added a late goal to seal a 4-1 victory and secure his sideโ€™s passage through to Round Three.

Despite the result, Central can take plenty of positives from the performance. For long periods they matched their higher-ranked opponents and showed the character and quality that has been evident throughout the season.

Good luck to Chad Coombes and West Coast Rangers for the remainder of their season. They were deserving victors yesterday as they extended their impressive winning streak to six games.

With their Chatham Cup campaign now concluded, attention turns back to league action for Central and next Saturdayโ€™s away fixture against Waitemata at McLeod Park.

Player of the Day: Brandon James
