A massive shout out to Kevin who has fished with me every year for the last 17+ years. Now thats longer than some marriages 😆

At this point I’m not even sure if he’s a customer or part of the crew. With that much of sea time he might as well start giving safety briefings.

Over the years he’s reeled in more fish than I can count (and probably more than he’s told his mates about). Some days I think the fish just jump on his line out of respect.

Through calm seas, rough weather, and the odd “the big one that got away” story (which gets bigger every year), Kevin’s been there for it all.

Appreciate your loyalty, your laughs, and your fish-catching skills mate.

All jokes aside, 17+ years of loyalty is something pretty special even if you do make the rest of the crew look bad.

Thank you Kevin !

Another classic day on the water with the regular customers !

The ocean was flat calm, sunshine everywhere, and not a puff of wind, the kind of day that makes you forget you’re supposed to be working.

Thank everyone for your loyalty and support for so many years !

Another cracker of a day out in the mighty Hauraki Gulf — flat seas, full chilly bins, and fish that clearly woke up and chose chaos.

The snapper were climbing over each other to get on the hook, the rods or the one holding one barely had time to rest.

Massive laughs, great crew, and plenty of fish heading home for dinner. Days like this are why we love what we do.

If you want to bend rods, fill the bin, and maybe force the skipper into your group photo ,you know what to do.
Here’s the photographic evidence that I do occasionally leave the wheelhouse for a photo .

Thanks everyone for coming aboard!

There’s something magical about slipping out of Auckland at sparrow’s fart…

The city’s still half asleep, the Sky Tower standing there like it’s had three coffees and is judging my life choices, and the harbour looking smoother than a politician before election day.

The sunrise over the Waitematā Harbour is all pinks and golds — absolutely stunning — almost enough to make you forget you willingly woke up at an hour normally reserved for bakers and questionable decisions.

Meanwhile, I’m heading out grinning, because while the rest of Auckland is hitting snooze, we’re chasing snapper, fresh air, and stories that will get slightly bigger every time they’re told.

Good morning, Auckland — you look beautiful. Shame you’re not coming fishing

After 20+ years of running charters, I can confidently say:

The fish still don’t read the brochure.

Headed out this week with a good crew, calm seas, and at least three “experienced fishermen” who immediately asked me which end of the rod the fish bites.

Snapper are on the chew — proper Auckland models too. Not the “measure it creatively” type. Rods bent, reels screamed, and one bloke pulled harder faces than he did line.

Highlights included:
🎣 A double hook-up that turned into a tangled modern art installation
🎣 Someone yelling “NET! NET! NET!” for a fish the size of a goldfish
🎣 Me saying “I’ve seen bigger” at least six times (it’s in the skipper contract)

After two decades on the water, I’ve learnt three things:
1. The fish bite best when someone’s eating their lunch.
2. The biggest fish of the day always “just got off.”
3. There’s always one mate who didn’t catch much… but somehow took home the most fillets.

If you want a day full of laughs, bent rods, and solid fish — come jump aboard. I’ll put you on the fish. What you do after that is between you and your technique.

Book a trip and let’s make some “slightly exaggerated” memories.

Who’s catching dinner this weekend?
Hint: it’s the people on our boat.

Departing Auckland with good gear, sharp hooks, and plenty of friendly abuse for whoever loses the biggest-fish title.

Beginners welcome. Show-offs tolerated.

Flick us a message and let’s get you out there.

Thanks to those who consistently support us !
