Today is special.

So special.

It's the 23rd of January 2019.

Want to know what is so special about that?

It's the only 23rd of January 2019 you will ever get.

Gosh isn't this so true! Music is my therapy. Even just listening to one song and singing while I shower can change my entire mindset for the rest of the day.

Today put on your favourite song, turn it up loud (use headphones if you need to) and spend 3 minutes lost in it ❤

My current faves are Just Like Fire (and anything else by Pink), Fight Song and of course... This is Me 💪

What songs make you feel powerful?

I got out for a walk today. Self care and all that 😉 and this was one of the many stunning views I was revelling in... enjoying the moment... feeling amazing- that is until a woman sprinted past me- muscles pumping, sweat gleaning off her skin, powerful, strong, fit.

It made me feel like s**t... because I'm not yet strong and healed enough from pregnancy and birth to even jog never mind do repetitive hill sprints like she was.

I was jealous and resentful- for about 10 seconds... until I reminded myself that everyone's journey is different and I may not be there yet but if I want to put in the work I'll get there one day (maybe- if not that's ok too).

It's likely that some women feel similar feelings when they see me out with my two beautiful children. Who knows.

All I know if comparison sucks- and I'm glad I was present enough to snap myself out of it quickly

I was SO DONE... grumpy, exhausted, sick... when the day started at 6 am today.

Half an hour later I felt on top of the world.

I am so happy and grateful for...

A sentence I say multiple times every day. Sometimes I drop the "happy" and just think of what I'm grateful for because I'm not always happy and thats ok.

But I am working towards bring as present and grateful in as many moments as I can.

Right now... I am so happy and grateful to be living this amazing life and all that comes with it.

🌺 Straight up just stole this from because her posts always make me chuckle!

🌺 I feel good today... but not fully energized. I feel like I have enough energy for myself and those closest to me and that's it. I just turned down an invitation to hang out with a bunch of lovely mums because I only (barely) knew one of the the group and I don't feel like I have the reserves to give a lot of myself to people I don't know today.

🌺 So I said no.

🌺 To protect my energy.

🌺 To be able to give to those I'm closest to instead.

🌺Sometimes being around others energizes me.

🌺But sometimes it saps away my energy faster than I can replenish it.

🌺Today is one of those days.

🌺So I said no... thanks but maybe next time.

🌺And I feel good.

🌺It's ok to say no.

🌺It's not selfish to protect your energy

Inside the secret world of co-sleepers 13/11/2018

Ahahaha this is good...

"What is this sorcery? You’re not meant to enjoy co-sleeping! It is certainly not a mutually beneficial relationship. It’s like everything being said by people who directly make money from mothers feeling desperation about sleep are wrong?"

As the first person I knew who made the decision to bring my baby into bed with me when I nearly died of exhaustion during the 4 month sleep regression with Bear (gosh I wish I had known even just one person who safely coslept so I knew it was a thing) I've got to admit it has been a lonely ride at times battling the societal norm that would have us believe that babies and children must sleep alone (despite the fact that the majority of adults prefer the comfort of sleeping with their partner- honestly where is the logic??).

I now know a whole bunch of people who have chosen to have their babies and kids in with them... and an even bigger bunch of people who end up with their kids in their bed most nights regardless of their sleeping arrangements 😂 and yes sometimes it is hard and the nights suck... but those nights would still suck if the kids were sleeping elsewhere... and on the other nights it's amazing. Miss A fed about 12 times last night (leaping, teething, and sick) and I didnt have to get up once... and the snuggles ❤❤❤

Yes it's not for everyone... but those people who have magical babies who sleep all night on their own have society's approval on their side... us "hippies" (yes I have been called that numerous times) dont.

"Isn’t it time to wonder why we are fine with pets in bed but freak out when someone has their child in bed with them?"

Inside the secret world of co-sleepers It's time to reveal the truth about co-sleepers. Emily Writes exposes the secret lives of families who bed share. I meet her in a dark alley. I hear her before I see her. She's holding a shusher in her hand and it's rhythmically shushing into the deep impenetrable blackness of the night. I assume

"Children have opinions, preferences, tastes, likes, and dislikes, just like adults. And, just like adults, they should be respected. Keeping unhealthy foods out of the house and healthy choices readily available, involving our little connoisseurs in meal planning and prep, and letting their hunger guide the timing and amount of food they eat not only eliminates destructive and unnecessary food battles, but also sets our tiny humans up for a lifetime of healthy choices."
