L. “Bob” Stewart was commissioned by Peter Colmore-Williams to design a fast 34-foot racing yacht that could double as a comfortable family cruiser. Great photo of Aurora, one of the oldest and one family owned Stewarts around.

Les used the original storm jib on the Squadron Weekend Kawau Race on his Elliott. The day before Cyclone Gabrielle hit NZ

Note the top batten broken on the main and the absence of life jackets in the 1965 photo!

"look at this, running down to Auckland with the 60 year old storm jib, may be over done in parts of the course, but getting a bit old to handle 30 to 40 knots,

Used the jib on Aurora in 1965, of Seatoun where the Waihine Sunk,

Changed up after this photo to full main and no3 jib,

Was a great slide" - Les (House of Elliott/Aurora)
