This year's field attracted 70 entries from centres like Arrowtown, Christchurch, New Plymouth, Waikato, the Far North and Glendowie!

The GBC triples team delivered an outstanding qualifying performance on Saturday. They opened against last year’s Carlton Cornwall finalists, needing 8 shots to draw with just two ends left. A superb finish saw them pick up a 4 and a 5 to secure the win.
A 19–13 victory in their second match meant one more win would seal qualification. They then faced a strong Howick side, skipped by 10-time centre title winner Neil Fisher, who had earlier beaten GBC in the Auckland 4s semifinal. It was a hard-fought contest, but Glendowie edged through with another one-point win to set up a highly anticipated post-section clash on Sunday against New Zealand Commonwealth Games representative Tony Grantham.
After leading 10–3, Glendowie were pulled back to 13-all heading into the final end. With Andrew Lawson holding shot, Grantham showed his international class by driving it off to kill the end and claim the win.
A terrific effort overall from the Glendowie team of Simon Pomeroy (left) Andrew Lawson (right)and Crawford Blair - photo below
