An original sporting photo from the past popped up yesterday. It was taken in the January of 1977 and shows from left to right Hasley Crawford (Trinidad Tobago) Olympic 100m Champion 1976, Don Quarry (Jamaica) Olympic 200m Champion 1976, Alan Wells (Scotland) Olympic 100m Champion 1980 and myself exploding of the starting blocks at the start of a 100m sprint. Great memories from some 49yrs ago π

An athletes bond with their coach is so very important. We both share in the athletes improvements and successes, on the flip side I also believe their athletes failures to some extent are a reflection of their coaching πββοΈππΏ

Huge congratulations to my 7yr old granddaughter Madison Rae, who on Saturday at her Glen Eden athletic clubs championships broke the 7yr girls 60 meter record with an outstanding time of 9.21 seconds. As a footnote that makes 3 generations of our family who now still hold current track records at the Glen Eden Club, spanning over 35yrs. I feel very few athletic clubs in NZ could equal that result. So pleased Club Chairman Neil has had the honour of recording all our families records at the Glen Eden Club over the last 35+ years. Great job mate Steve ππ

So cool to watch my 8yr old granddaughters Glen Eden Athletics Club Championships today. Madie Rae threw, jumped and sprinted superbly. It seemed just like yesterday we were watching her mum Jenna Rae perform for the same club some 28yrs ago. Well done Madi, Poppa is so proud of you young lady. ππΎββοΈππ
