Kevin had a few days away chasing sika. It was -5 in the mornings warming up to 4 degrees. Great trip but everything was just out of bow range

Last month the stars aligned and we were able to help out a young bowhunter, Oliver, with some arrows.
We hadn’t met him but receiving this thank you card from Oliver lets us know he’s of good character. Manners will take you a long way in life. I wish there were more people like Oliver. Good hunting

Great day at the North Auckland Deerstalkers Branch on Sunday. It was their measuring day a there was an excellent selection of heads there. Many thanks to the scoring team led by Paul. Conor and Kevin gained a couple of placings.

New shipment of Treestands in today. The Novix Helo Hang On Stand. Nice a lightweight at under 10lbs, ideal for New Zealand conditions. Comes with a safety harness and padded seat.

Kevin has a great article in the latest NZ Hunter magazine about recovering your game after the shot. The information is drawn from over 300 big game recoveries Kevin has been on. A must read for new bowhunters. The June/July Issue on out now (Issue 113).

One of the most overlooked things in archery is also one of the smallest, your nocks. Over time they can be damaged, crack or spread. The latter will affect accuracy. Tuning a customers bow today the terrible tear in the second pic turned into a near perfect one in the last photo by just changing out the nock for a new one. Same arrow and nothing done to the bow. Nocks are cheap, misses can be very costly

Kevin spent the long weekend downloading 60SD cards his game cameras had collected over the last five years. This one is a favourite. Three sika stags post rut.

Kevin captured this image while saddle hunting sika last week. It was a 16 yard shot through both lungs.
