Kensenshikan Karate

Great senior session Tuesday evening covering both Shotokan and Shorinjiryu kata.

Huge congratulations to our Kensenshikan NZ competitors at the 21st World Koshiki Full Contact Karate Championships over the weekend at Brisbane. The NZ team did really well with some medal rankings!

1st place Jasper Shearer 16/17 years Female Kumite 🥇 World Champion!
3rd place Dylan Shearer Senior Lightweight Male Kumite 🥉

Next WKKF World Titles in Canada 2027

Hugely successful WKKF tournament. So great for cultural exchange and fantastic competition. Thank you to Hanshi Hisataka, Kyoshi Andrew and all WKKF representatives. Very proud of the NZ team - Nga mihi.

Was great to meet and train with people from around the world at the WKKF seminar in Brisbane. Today and tomorrow competitors will represent their country in the world titles, it’s a privilege to have brought over an NZ team.

Super proud to continue as the appointed WKKF representative in New Zealand. Look forward to supporting the Koshiki World Championship tournament in Brisbane later this year.

Had an old student of mine, Jens, come in and do some amazing kata demonstrations for us. He leaves to Venice in October to compete in the Junior World Karate Championships. Jens is now a sports kata karate athlete and is at the very top of his game.
