Day 3 - Long Distance Nationals Orewa
Taniwha representing heavily on the water today!

Our SMW and MW crews just missed out on the medals in the V6 this morning. Missing the bling, but 4th in Aotearoa is an awesome result! Awesome paddling, wāhine 💪🏼❤️

Also out there smashing the distance for over 2 hours of hard work for Taniwha today we had our:
Open Men
SMM X 2
Master Men
Golden Men

So proud of you all. Such a great sight seeing a massive fleet of Taniwha waka out on the water at Ōrewa today.

Also kudos to our own Sugar taking out another medal win with Turangawaewae🥈

Day 2- Long Distance Nationals

The Mighty Taniwha On The Water! 🔥

Our Taniwha open mixed team smashed it in their mixed V6 today. Epic paddling and amazing pics! Great effort all.

Four Taniwha student paddlers also jumped into the new University Division at the Long Distance Nationals, teamed up through AUT, and had just a few weeks to get themselves sorted, trained and bonded.

That’s what made this division so much fun, stepping outside the usual club environment, meeting new people and giving university paddlers another way to get involved in waka ama.

AUT - Auckland University of Technology hopefully this is just the beginning!

Shout out to our very own Leslie Ash in her second race after silver yesterday in V1, took out another silver today racing W70 with Kaihoe o Ngati Rehia Trust 🥈

What an awesome start for our Taniwha paddlers competing in the V1 racing today at Orewa!

Huge efforts all round, with some brilliant podium results:

🥈 Leslie Ash — SILVER | M70W OC1
🥉 Sugar Te Paa — BRONZE | GMW OC1

So proud of you all! 💪🏼 kudos also to Chris Mauger taking on his first LDN in a rudderless 💥

And we’re only just getting started. Plenty more racing to come over the next few days, with our mixed, women’s and men’s 6s taking to the water.

WORLD SPRINT CHAMPS SEMI FINALISTS!

What a campaign from our Taniwha – Manawa Wahinez.

After taking out their heat, our wāhine lined up today in a seriously competitive Master 40 Women V6 1000m World Championship semi final, finishing in 5:24.41.

They left everything out there. Heart, power, grit and a massive amount of Taniwha pride.

From a heat win to racing amongst the best crews in the world, what an achievement.

Ka mau te wehi, e ngā wāhine!

So proud of this crew. 🇳🇿🌏
