Confused with what diet is best?
With so many different diets out there it can feel almost impossible to find the right one for your lifestyle. So many ‘influencers’ talking of ‘the best diet for (whatever goal)’ when in reality there is no golden diet, but fundamental nutrition principles that all diets are build upon. We thought that by breaking down these principles it would help some of our followers in their health and wellness journey.
✨Energy expenditure ✨
Whether the goal is to lose or gain weight, they both work on the same principle of energy expenditure. If you want to lose weight you fundamentally have to consume less calories than you expend leaving you in a deficit. Conversely, if you wanted to gain weight you would need to eat more than you expend leaving you in a surplus.
✨ Protein ✨
It is important to consume an adequate amount of protein to help fuel your exercise. Protein has a range of benefits such as being essential in the process of building muscle. Research suggests that to build muscle we need to be in a caloric surplus and eating 1.6-2.2 grams of protein per kg of body weight. In addition, protein is typically more satiating than other nutrients, meaning that you will feel fuller for longer.

Woweee it’s humid in Auckland today.
A good reminder, that we need to bring a sweat towel with us to the gym.
We love to see a good sweaty workout underway…but we love it even more when you clean up your sweat after 😎
Simple:
Towel - Yourself
Spray & Wipe - Equipment
It’s super easy to do, and it becomes part of the routine once you develop the habit.

is moving to 5:30pm from Monday the 21st onwards.
This is the first of our timetable updates, with a few more to be announced next week.
The Arena is still restricted to 4 people under red light, and we recommend booking in advance to secure your spot.
You can do this on our website, or in person at reception.

Hey Olympic team!
Here is a little update in regards to masks and mask wearing…
Please make sure to wear a MASK when entering and exiting the facility.
This will be mandatory from the 3rd of February onwards (no mask, no entry).
If you can start this practice now, it’ll start a good habit.
You are not required to wear a mask while exercising or on poolside…
Other times, such as in the changing rooms, speaking to other staff or members…mask up 👍
Bandanas and alternative face coverings are also no longer acceptable as of the 3rd February.

Hey everyone ⭐️
As of midnight tonight (Sunday the 23rd Jan) the whole country will move to COVID response red light 📍
The Olympic remains open with a few changes and restrictions.
Key changes:
- The Sauna and Steam are closed.
- Masks to be worn in and out of the facility.
- No Arena Group Fitness classes.
We will keep everything up to date on our website. Because of the nature of these responses, many operational factors are subject to change.
