Golf is Green continues ...

Working with the NZ Sports Turf Institute to deliver the Auckland Field Day Forum was an incredible success — a powerful reminder of how committed our golf clubs are to sustainable practices, environmental responsibility, and future‑focused innovation.

Starting the day with an immersive VR experience from the Auckland Council, we moved into discussions with industry leaders engaging deeply with topics that matter:
sustainable turf performance,
circularity,
renewable energy,
responsible finance,
emerging technology.

From solar solutions and agronomy frameworks to circular golf ball recovery and eco‑cleaning products, the conversations were practical, ambitious, and grounded in real change already happening across the region.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, contributed, and shared their expertise. The momentum behind Golf is Green continues to grow — and together, we’re shaping a more resilient, environmentally conscious future for golf in Tāmaki Makaurau.

🏆 Auckland vs Wellington — Taupō Match 2026

The Taupo Golf Club delivered another brilliant occasion for one of the pinnacle annual fixtures, and the competition across all divisions was outstanding.

Women’s Team
Auckland held a strong lead after Day 1, but Wellington came out firing on Day 2 and took the advantage at the turn. Cool heads and composure proved decisive, with Auckland steadying late to secure the overall win.

Junior Boys
All square after Day 1, with tight, competitive matches across the board. Auckland arrived on Day 2 with real intent — winning the first three matches and taking an unassailable lead and the overall victory.

Men’s Team
Auckland carried the advantage into Day 2 but faced determined Wellington opposition. After nine holes, every match was separated by, at most, one hole. 7 of the 8 matches went to at least the 17th — a testament to the quality on display. Evenutally, nAuckland prevailed to claim the overall win and complete the clean sweep.

A huge thank you to Taupō Golf Club, especially their catering team, for outstanding hospitality.
It’s always a fantastic contest against Wellington — we look forward to seeing them again next year.

Perfect golf weather and a pristine Taupō Centennial golf course meant the golf was top‑tier from the first tee shot.

The teams battled through foursomes in the AM and reverse singles in the PM, with both sides putting up quality performances and keeping the scoreboard tight.

With singles matches to come this morning, both teams are well in the hunt — setting up a great finish to this long‑standing inter‑provincial fixture.

🏆 PlaceMakers Auckland Men's Masters Championship

Congratulations to our 2026 champions!

🥇 Masters Champion: Matthew Cormack (Remuera Golf Club)
🥇 Senior Champion: Steven Matthews (Akarana Golf Club)

The championship was a true test of patience and perseverance. Day one brought relentless wind and rain, with Scott Robertson and Scott Thrupp sharing the lead after battling through the toughest conditions. Sunday's final round saw the wind disappear, but steady rain continued to challenge the field.

Scott Johnson charged up the leaderboard with an impressive final round -2, but Remuera Golf Clubs Matthew Cormack held his nerve to fend off the chasing pack and secure the Masters title by two shots.

A huge thank you to Royal Auckland & Grange Golf Club for hosting the championship, along with their greenkeeping and clubhouse teams for presenting the courses in challenging conditions. Thank you also to our referees who help golfers every event.

Finally, thank you to PlaceMakers for their continued support of Auckland Golf and this fantastic championship.
