We will be backing TEAM SHANNON.

We look forward to seeing you bring that Trophy home.

🔵⚪ COACH ANNOUNCEMENT | TEAM SHANNON ⚪🔵

We’re excited to announce the coaching duo taking charge of TEAM SHANNON for our upcoming NFS U21 Competition! 🥎🔥

Keeping it in the whānau, we have a father-and-son duo in Heine & Ethan — two men who know exactly what it takes to compete and push players towards that next level.

🔥 Heine — a standout pitcher with plenty of experience on the diamond and a current coach with Marist, bringing knowledge, passion and a strong understanding of the game.

🔥 Ethan — returning home to Auckland after a stint in Australia and bringing with him valuable experience, including having proudly represented New Zealand 🇳🇿.

Together, this father-and-son combination brings experience, softball knowledge and plenty of passion to Team Shannon.

We’re looking forward to seeing what these two can bring to the diamond and, most importantly, how they help develop and support our young players throughout our U21 competition.

Welcome aboard, Heine & Ethan! 💙🥎

Talanoa in the Samoan culture is more than just having a conversation; it is about sharing stories, listening with respect, building trust and understanding. It strengthens relationships, passes on knowledge and wisdom, and brings people together to find common ground.

These sentiments were exactly the way Joe Forsyth carried himself through life.

Joe Forsyth was a highly respected, veteran player and coach in New Zealand softball, remembered as an outstanding servant of the sport in the Auckland region.

Joe had a memorable playing career on the diamond before transitioning into coaching. In his early days, he played for and coached Auckland Marist Softball Club, while simultaneously supporting grassroots clubs like Pioneers and the Samoa Society.
As a coach, he achieved extensive success guiding multiple teams across Auckland and surrounding regions, including:
• Metro Softball
• Auckland United
• Marist
• Brothers
• Onehunga Mangere

He was known for utilizing his considerable experience to mould teams into attacking forces.

Forsyth's extensive contributions to the sport have been immortalized through the
Joe Forsyth Talanoa Bowl.
To honor his legacy, Auckland Marist and Auckland United inaugurated an annual trophy game played for the Joe Forsyth Talanoa Bowl. The bowl carries the inscription, "The path to leadership is through service".

Tomorrow afternoon, Marist proudly host Auckland United at Simson Reserve as we play for the honour to lift the Joe Forsyth Talanoa Bowl.

Arch Gabriel!

A proud Marist Man.
Following Arthur’s untimely and sudden passing in 1999, the Marist Old Boys created a memorial trophy in honour of their mate Arch which was to be awarded to the Man of the Match in the annual battles against cross town rivals, the Mt Albert Ramblers.
Arch enjoyed his battles with Ramblers over the years as no game was ever easy. A victory was always earnt.
Victories were never a singular effort but always a team result. It is this very testament that Arch always held near and dear. With that in mind, it was only fitting that the Arch Gabriel Memorial trophy became the prize for the winning team as opposed the best performing individual.

Close to 30 years later and the battles with Ramblers still remain fierce and yes, it still requires a significant team effort to walk away with the victory against the powerhouse of NZ softball.

Tomorrow, we host the Mt Albert Ramblers in the season opener and we play once again for the Arch Gabriel Memorial trophy.

We play for the love of the game but to also honour those who have ensured the values of club, team and gamesmanship are upheld for years to come.

Thank you Gabriel family for your husband, dad and poppa. We look forward to playing in his honour once again.

On behalf of the Marist Softball Club, we send our condolences to the Earley Family and the Ramblers Softball Club.

A stalwart of our game who will be truly missed.

💛 Cynthia Earley ♥️

It is with great sadness that we advise the sudden passing yesterday of Cynthia Earley, Life Member, Patron and a true Stalwart of the Ramblers Softball Club.

Cynthia was much more than a member of Ramblers for over 60 years — she was part of its heart and history. Her dedication, loyalty and love for the club spanned many years, and her contribution to Ramblers and its people will never be forgotten.

She was a familiar and much-loved face around the club, always willing to help, support and be there for the players, families and wider Ramblers community.

Cynthia leaves behind a wonderful legacy at Ramblers, one that will continue through the many lives she touched and the memories she helped create.

Thank you, Cynthia, for everything you gave to Ramblers.
Your place in our club family will always remain. 💛♥️

Our deepest sympathies are with Hilton, Sheree, Ricky, Megan, Max, Ryan and Maxime, all her cherished friends and her Friday Night Ladies Table at this difficult time.

Rest peacefully, Cynthia. Forever “A Rambler for me” 🥎💛♥️

Funeral will be at Morrison’s in Henderson at 10am on Friday with more details to follow.

With the upcoming season only around the corner, it’s time to clean up our home and keep it as the best place to play and watch our favourite summer sport.

Calling all members (and non-members 👀) to come down and help out with our working bee this coming Saturday.

Regardless of weather, we will have many things to tidy up.

Any questions? Contact your team manager or Club President Robert Harris.
