We welcome new instructor to the studio Kelly Greacen. Kelly graduated with Polestar Pilates UK in London and is also a physiotherapist with over a decade of experience helping people move with greater confidence, strength and ease.

Kelly is passionate about empowering individuals through mindful movement. She has worked with a diverse range of clients - from post-surgical rehabilitation and injury recovery, to elite level performers.
Her clinical specialties include injury management, post-operative rehabilitation, and supporting women through all stages of life - including prenatal, post natal, menopause and beyond.

As it is Pilates day here are some photos from the studio when it first opened in 1995. The Body Studio was the original name of the studio and we were a pioneer studio introducing Pilates to New Zealand. I had just returned from 10 years in London where I had worked as an apprentice with Gordon Thomson at the Body Control Studios in South Kensington London for five years. My introduction to Pilates was in 1987. The photos are with Black Cap cricketer who was rehabilitated from a back injury and as well became an instructor - it was the first time I saw Pilates become competitive! Coming from Pilates in London which was very dancer dominated and to then see this competitive, sweaty streak introduced while Dion and I trained some All black and rugby league legends. There are many great memories of the past 23 years with amazing instructors working at the studio from all over the world and amazing clients who have been practicing with us for all these years. Thank you to the genius and legend Mr Joe and Mrs Clara Pilates for this amazing Methodology originally know as “Contrology”

Today we celebrate Joseph Pilates and Happy Pilates Day to all you⭐️ it’s amazing that Joe had a dream of seeing Pilates as a mainstream form of exercise, and now, years later, we’re living in a world where Pilates is the go-to movement routine for so many people all over New Zealand and worldwide. To quote Joe:

“pilates is a complete coordination of body mind and spirit”
