Our Opti sailors have been training hard through the tough conditions we’ve been experiencing, making this the perfect time to put all that hard work to the test at AIMS Games in Tauranga this weekend!

Come down this evening for a Winter Workshop with Andrew Brown from Doyle Sails!

Join Brownie for a hands-on Optimist sail tuning session, covering everything from rig setup and sail controls to getting the most out of your boat in a range of conditions.

With extensive coaching experience from Optimist through to Olympic level, Brownie will share practical tips and tuning knowledge to help you get more out of your sailing.

Paid parking will be introduced across the Okahu Bay site from Thursday 3 September, with parking enforced daily from 8am to 7pm.

The new parking arrangements apply across the site, from the Akarana Marine Sports Centre car park through to the southern section of the main car park.

The introduction of paid parking is being implemented by Auckland Council and the Ōrākei Local Board. Royal Akarana Yacht Club does not support this change and is extremely disappointed with the outcome, particularly given the commitments made to the club throughout the consultation process that our members would not be adversely affected.

The club continues to strongly push against the current parking model and will continue to advocate for our members, visitors and the wider boating community to get a better outcome.

Sophia Morgan Wins ILCA Nationals!

What a performance from RAYC Sailing Academy coach Sophia Morgan, who has taken out the Fiji ILCA Nationals, winning all nine races!

Congratulations, Sophia, what an incredible result!

Entries are open for the second race day of the Doyle Sails Junior Icebreaker Series this Sunday!

Open to all dinghy classes, members and visitors. With only one race day remaining after this weekend, make sure you’re on the start line, every race counts towards the overall series!

What a weekend!

We had 15 girls from across our junior fleets, from Optis and P Class to Starlings and RS Fevas, come together for a girls’ sleepover at the Club.

The weekend kicked off with Feva sailing, followed by make your own pizzas, cupcake decorating and bracelet making before settling in for a movie night.

The girls also enjoyed a talk from experienced sailor Emma Sanderson, who shared her sailing experiences and some great insights with the group.

A great weekend of sailing, friendship, and plenty of fun!

It was great to see a positive turnout at last night's AGM with a good number of members attending to review the last 12 months of activity at the club.

Last night we welcomed in a new set of Flag Officers including incoming Commodore Greg Roake to take the club into the next two year period where the club is aiming to continue the current period of growth and investment in sailing of all forms.
