Not running at GP4 on Saturday? Then come and join us at the club - for not 1, not 2 but 5 runs!
Yes, it's the Pakuranga Athletic Club Winter Pentathlon!
We'll be doing some cross country running, some hill reps, a track race, a handicapped sprint race - and a (traffic-free) road run to finish off. Juniors, youth, seniors, Masters - and parents - all welcome. Juniors - collect a sticker for each run you complete. Those with all five stickers at the end of the pentathlon get to choose a treat from the treat box.
We can't wait to see you. Sign in and collect your race card from 2 pm; warm up and instructions at 2:20 pm, first race at 2:30 pm. New members very welcome 😀

It was lovely to see so many people at the club on Saturday afternoon for the dedication of the Mike Murray Corner - in honour of the irrepressible Mike Murray. Mike was such a important part of our club's history and held many roles over the years, culminating in being Pakuranga Athletic Club's first Life Member. The afternoon was a great opportunity to catch up, share some fond (and very amusing) memories and have a laugh together.
Many thanks to Rosalea and Murray for their lovely words and to Mike's family for taking time to celebrate with us. A perfect way to celebrate Matariki Weekend.

Huge congratulations to everyone who took part in The Great Jigsaw Challenge at the club this afternoon. We ran 48 km to collect jigsaw pieces then worked together in our teams to put them together in record time. Special congratulations to the pink team who collected all their pieces in and completed their puzzle first.
It was great to see some new faces at the club this afternoon too - we hope you'll join us again next Saturday afternoon - same time.
Many thanks to Sarah D, Sarah B, Errol and Jessie who helped run the event today, to James for helping with the warm up, Neil for being our race starter, and Maddy for running the kitchen. Fabulous teamwork everyone!

Attention all Cross Country and Road athletes - It's back this Saturday - The Great Jigsaw Race!
We'll be running in teams around the top field to collect jigsaw pieces as quickly as possible then racing in to the clubrooms and working in our teams to put our jigsaws together. First team to complete their jigsaw gets the treats!
Everyone is welcome - juniors, youth, seniors and masters. Please meet in the clubrooms around 2 pm so we can put everyone in teams then we'll head to the top field for a warm-up before the ho**er goes.
It's going to be heaps of fun - we look forward to seeing you.

Huge congratulations to Masters' throws athlete Mark Powell who has been collecting medals in competitions in Asia.
Mark recently competed at the Malaysian International Open Masters Championships in Kuala Lumpur where he won a silver medal in the javelin (as well as 4th place finishes in both discus and shotput). He then moved on to the Sabah Masters Athletic Championships in Kota Kinabulu (Borneo) where he won bronze in shotput and GOLD in discus. Mark commented that throwing in 34oC temperatures was great but the 80% humidity was a little brutal!
Our Masters' Throws group, lead by Mark, have their next Winter Throws' Meet on Saturday the 18th of July at the Pakuranga track. Beginner/novice/'haven't thrown since college' adult throwers are very welcome. Coaching provided; a good time and lots of laughs guaranteed. Contact [email protected] if you are interested and we'll put you in touch with Mark.

A huge congratulations to everyone who ran at the club today. We LOVED seeing you add an extra km to how far you usually run for our Run For The Ball Challenge - great effort everyone!
And many thanks to everyone who joined us in the clubrooms to watch the All Whites. Unfortunately the result wasn't what we hoped for but the atmosphere was awesome - a fun way to spend a Saturday afternoon together.
And we're all sorted with our teams for the Round of 32. Who will win the FIFA ball and bar tab? It's going to be an exciting competition!
