Te Wiki o te Reo Maori 🤍
I grew up learning & speaking our country’s beautiful language, but as I got older I lost touch with my practice, along with my confidence in speaking my reo. Its been inspiring this week watching so many tāngata reconnect, learn for the first time or refresh their knowledge of te Reo Maori 🙏🏽
Above all else, it’s reminded me that the things we feel connected to shouldn’t just be celebrated momentarily, we should embrace them all year round 🤍
Kia kaha te Reo Māori - let’s make the Maori language strong 🔥

Whether you’re stretching or sprinting.
Running marathons or binge watching movie marathons.
Eating salads for lunch or baking cookies for breakfast.
Working hard or hardly working.
Daily walks or daily online shopping orders.
Waking up before the sunrise or catching up on lost sleep.
Uncertainty effects each of us differently;
Choose to do what is needed for you to get by during this time, regardless of how others choose to spend theirs 🤍

In the fitness industry we talk a lot about BALANCE ⚖️
What we don’t always speak about is sometimes the challenging part isn’t actually practicing balance, it’s our mentality following it that many of us struggle with.
I’ve had this conversation alot lately with my clients, so I thought I’d share some reminders; 🥰
⚖️ We are what we most consistently do; a few workouts won’t make us fit, just like a few overindulgent meals won’t ruin your progress.
⚖️ Memories are more important than macros. Sometimes sharing pizza & donuts with your loved ones, cocktails with your friends or hot chips to soak up the long whites at a concert are worth going over your usual intake 🤷🏼♀️
⚖️ You don’t need to earn your food by exercising more.
⚖️ You don’t need to punish yourself by eating less after over indulging.
⚖️ Having rest days are important, taking time off training will not ruin your progress.
⚖️ Feeling stressed, guilty or anxious over food will cause more damage than the actual food itself.
⚖️ The best version of you isn’t the leanest/smallest/most shredded - it’s the happiest & healthiest version. Aesthetics don’t define the quality of your life & I doubt anyone will talk about how great your abs looked or how defined your glutes were at your funeral 👀😂🤷🏼♀️

When asked what your hobbies include outside of the gym, is watching recipe videos & attempting to recreate them in the middle of the night an appropriate answer? 👀😅

Different shapes, different sizes. Different cultures, different genetics.
Different abilities, different goals.
Different movement patterns, different mindsets.
We arrive with our differences, but in this space we become a collective.
Same team, same purpose, brought together by the same love of movement 🤍

Be stubborn about your goals, but flexible with your methods.
Have the ability to hold on when things are challenging, but be able to recognise if something no longer aligns with your direction.
Have a plan, but don’t panic when things don’t go accordingly.
Have confidence in your ability, but be coachable and willing to learn.
Success requires both an urgency for action & patience for results 🔥⚡️
