Fresh from presenting at the Pilates Journal Expo in Sydney, we are so pleased to welcome back Australia-based Kimberley Garlick to New Zealand this August.
An internationally recognised presenter, Kimberley brings a wealth of experience, perspective, and insight to her teaching.
Senior Educator with Polestar Australia since 2004, and current President of the Pilates Alliance Australasia (PAA), her work continues to shape instructors globally.
She teaches with warmth, clarity, and generosity, bringing people into the work with ease, while offering depth and intelligence.
This is the kind of learning that expands not only what we do, but how we think.
Auckland - 7 & 8 August
Christchurch - 9 August
Limited live spaces. Zoom available. First in, first served.

Where teaching begins.
The true expression of the Pilates method starts on the Mat.
At Polestar we go beyond learning exercises.
We focus on understanding the why behind movement.
When teachers understand movement principles, teaching becomes more than cueing choreography. Movement becomes a therapeutic tool - movement as medicine, supporting whole-body health and wellbeing.
Our South Island Mat Teacher Training begins June 6–7, hosted in Christchurch and led by Senior Educator Abbey Parsons.
This training includes:
• Pre-recorded Principles of Movement lectures
• Mentoring practicums included in the course
• Support from experienced Polestar faculty
• Connection to a global community of movement educators
Because group teaching is a craft - and it begins with understanding movement.

The true expression of Pilates movement is found on the Mat.
Mat is more than teaching a sequence.
It’s watching how people move.
Noticing the small things.
How someone organises their body.
Where they hold tension.
Where movement comes more easily.
Two people can do the same exercise
and have a completely different experience.
That’s why teaching on the mat isn’t just about the exercises.
It’s about observing, adapting, and shaping the experience of movement.
Sometimes that means using props.
Sometimes it means modifying.
And sometimes it means saying less—
so the body can feel before it thinks.
The real work is helping people move
with more ease, awareness, and confidence.
Christchurch Mat Series — starting June 6th
Early Bird closes April 30th
Registrations close May 29th (to allow time for online lecture preparation)

As the year comes to a close, we want to acknowledge our incredible Polestar community - teachers, students, and Faculty across Aotearoa and beyond.
We know this week marks the end of teaching for many, and we hope the coming days offer rest, reflection, and time to simply be.
We’re deeply grateful to share this community with you, and we’re looking forward to reconnecting in 2026 with more meaningful education, collaboration, and learning - including some special international guests.
Until then, enjoy the summer 🌺
