Just over a week to go until the next round, drivers! Get your entries in ASAP!
Trofeo Series
The Trofeo series is an entry level motorsport event open to a wider range of Italian marque cars. See www.trofeo.org.nz for more info.
The New Zealand Trofeo Series is a group of some 40 odd Alfistii who get together each year to race the wheels of their Alfa Romeo cars of varying ages & characteristics in a contest that is fun, friendly, competitive and relatively affordable. The rules provide four classes catering for Alfa Romeo cars from relatively standard specification, through to fully race prepared vehicles.

Four weeks to go until the next round of the 2026 Trofeo Series season, courtesy of the Taupo Car Club Inc. Winter Series, on July 25th/26th. Please make sure you get your entries in as early as possible, and let the committee know if you're coming or not. The more entries, the better!
Let's go racing!

Trofeo Series had round two of racing, and round three of sprints, on Saturday and Sunday last weekend. We knew of three or four drivers who had to miss the meeting due to various reasons, thank you for contacting us, but otherwise we had a dismal turnout for the round. The three drivers who entered, ended up taking maximum points in their categories. Richard Hainsworth surprised many drivers with his speedy Giulietta QV in the sprints on Saturday. (Even with the very foggy start to proceedings.)
Maurice Thomson and Max van Maanen managed to get through the rainy practices and then spent the sunny afternoon giving it heaps. (Max, are your tyres okay?)
Drivers, I have a request. Please try to get your cars entered for as many rounds as possible. The committee are working hard to keep the series alive, and giving you the opportunity to take part in some cool, relatively inexpensive racing. If you are not able to attend, PLEASE contact the committee as early as possible so that we can keep on top of things, and help Taupo Car Club with their organisation. It doesn't help us when you don't bother to contact us. Remember, this series is for you, the drivers.
On a further note, Anthony has just moved down to Taupo, and will try to have either one or two rooms available for those traveling from out of town for the weekends, so contact him if you need help with accommodation. (Although not the July meeting, sorry, he won't be there.)
Please keep an eye out for the reminders soon to join the next round at the end of July!

📢 MANDATORY RACE RADIO! With less than 2 weeks until Winter Series, if you don't already have race radio sorted for Clubmans, we highly recommend getting sorted now. If you want to purchase a kit from TCC, please submit your request ASAP as stocks are limited and time is running out.

Paul Jennings (Alfa Romeo Alfasud ti), Anthony Petty (Alfa Romeo Alfasud Sprint), and Phil Walters (Fiat Tipo) pushing hard at AROCNZ's Manfeild May Madness in one of the handicap races.
This was the Trofeo Race Series' first round of their 2026 season. There are still another four rounds planned, so still time to enter the Trofeo Series in either the race or sprint series, or both, and drivers of classic Italian cars are welcome. https://www.trofeo.org.nz/entry-form
The next round of the Trofeo Race and Sprint Series will be at the Taupo Car Club Inc. Winter Series - Round 1, to be held on the weekend of June 20th/21st.

Round 1 of 2026 Trofeo Race and Sprint Series took place Alfa Romeo Owners Club of New Zealand (AROCNZ)'s May Madness meeting at Manfeild Circuit on Saturday 2nd May. ERC Classic Race Series (NZ) were also there, along with many a fast Alfa Romeo brought out to stretch their legs.
There was a lot of close, exciting racing going on, although a few cars had mechanical issues that brought their day to an early finish. We would like to thank the organisers for all their great work, and look forward to supporting May Madness next year.
For anyone who is interested in having a go, whether it is in the race series, or our new sprint series which is designed to try and encourage new or inexperienced drivers out onto the track, please get in contact with any of the committee members listed on the contacts page of the Trofeo Series website. https://www.trofeo.org.nz/contact
Attention: Drivers
The results from last weekend's May Madness races and sprints are now available on the website.
Looking forward to Taupo.
