**IRONMAN 70.3 Taupō Event Update**
We wanted to let you know that we have made the decision to put on hold the IRONMAN 70.3 Taupō event, traditionally held in December each year, following this year’s VinFast IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship to be held in Taupō from 14-15 December.
ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand and IRONMAN 70.3 New Zealand will continue to be held in early March each year, with the 2025 event taking place on 1 March.
From 2015 to 2019, and again in 2023, IRONMAN 70.3 Taupō was a key date on the New Zealand triathlon calendar, providing a first taste of IRONMAN 70.3 racing to so many, while also providing a great opportunity for IRONMAN athletes to prepare for the ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand in March.
By putting on hold the December event for the foreseeable future, we will be able to dedicate the time and resource required to continue to grow and enhance the world-famous ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand, the longest running IRONMAN event outside of Hawai’i.
There will continue to be a great opportunity for athletes to race an IRONMAN 70.3 distance in Taupō, with the 1.9km swim, 90km ride and 21.1km run event to continue to be held alongside the ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand in March – as it has been since 2017.
We can’t wait to show Taupō off to the triathlon world this December and continue to welcome athletes from all over NZ and the world to our beautiful part of the world every year in March.
We thank the thousands of athletes who have been a part of the IRONMAN 70.3 Taupō event since 2015 for their support and we hope to see them continue to race with us in either the IRONMAN or IRONMAN 70.3 in Taupō in March.
We would also like to acknowledge event stakeholders and partners for their ongoing support of IRONMAN 70.3 Taupō since 2015, and we look forward to continuing to work with them on ANZCO Foods IRONMAN New Zealand into the future.
