This is why we do it.
Meet Ben. He's part of the Champs family through his mum Catherine, from Optimize Health, and he's the reason this cause means so much more to us than just an event at Eden Park.
Ben was born with spina bifida and hydrocephalus. At just 24 weeks, before he was even born, he had surgery to close up his spine. A week after birth, he had another surgery to insert a shunt to manage fluid on his brain, a shunt that needs constant, careful monitoring for the rest of his life, because if it blocks, the warning signs look like any other childhood illness until it's serious.
Cure Kids is funding research right now, led by Professor Simon Malpas at the University of Auckland, to build a tiny implantable device that lets parents monitor their child's brain pressure remotely. For families like Ben's, that means fewer hospital visits, less radiation from scans, and a lot less fear.
Ben is now a Cure Kids ambassador. And he's why we get on the bike.
This is bigger than Champs. Bigger than the gym. It's a chance for our whole community to stand up for kids like Ben.
We've raised $1,000 so far, a good start, but with a little over two weeks to go, there's a lot more we can do. Every bit helps, whether that's a donation or grabbing one of our last few rider slots.

Daeli Hydration is back fuelling our riders again this year, sugar-free electrolytes to get everyone through the long overnight stretch at Eden Park. Salted Watermelon, Pineapple, Mango, Limeade, all of them genuinely good, all of them getting us through 24 hours on the bike.
Massive thanks to the Daeli Hydration team for backing us again 🙏🏼

24 hours. One bike. Small gym, big heart. 🚴
Rebel Sport 24hr Challenge for Cure Kids is back, Wednesday 16 to Thursday 17 September at Eden Park, and Champs Fitness is in it again.
Last year around 30 of us kept a bike spinning for 24 straight hours, rode over 600km, and raised close to $10k for Cure Kids. This year we're going again, and we want you with us.
