Thinking about sitting this election out? Ask yourself this: if you don’t have your say, are you happy to let everyone else decide what your future looks like?
Here’s the reality:
- Around 440,000 people were estimated to be unenrolled in August, including about 200,000 aged 18–24.
- By 30 September, only 62.16% of eligible 18–24-year-olds were enrolled.
- In the 2023 election, 25.83% of enrolled 18–24-year-olds didn’t vote.
You don’t have to back the same party as your mates, your parents or anyone else. You don’t have to agree with anyone. Your vote is private, and the choice is yours.
But you can’t complain that nobody listens if you never take the opportunity to speak up.
Do your research. Question everything. Look at the options. Make up your own mind.
