Well it has been a long road to finally be able to open again and l am excited to be back in the studio teaching.
During lockdown I moved my practice to my home garden studio, a lovely relaxing environment amongst native bush and bird song..details can be found in the bio.
Government requirements will be adhered to which requires all clients to be double vaccinated.
Looking forward to welcoming back existing clients and new clients who wish to work with me.

Remember ‘less’ is ‘more’ in Pilates.
I learnt the hard way and should have known better!!
As many of you know Reformer Hip work feels so good.
I made the mistake of leaving my ankle weights on and going into a meditative state enjoying the moment and doing way too many reps. I stopped immediately as I felt my butt cramp in a way I have never felt before. It was my body telling me enough was enough but it was too late!
I’m not sure for definite but I reckon my piriformis muscle which helps the hip rotate outwards went into spasm. Now giving me piriformis syndrome that has effected my sciatica nerve.
It’s not a sharp pain more of a dull persistent ache that penetrates down my leg.
I’ve been spending the morning working on it with the foam roller and fascia ball trying to get to the deep muscle between the glutes.
I feel movement helps during the day but the aching is keeping me awake at night.
Any advice appreciated for relief.

Neck tension can be an issue when pulling the straps but remembering to start the movement with the chin tuck and not leaving the head behind helps considerably.

Open your heart…open your chest.
These cues are a deal breakers for me especially when teaching the client to connect to their back extensor muscles and take the shoulder blades down their back. It is one of those instances when cueing the opposite body part has an effect to achieve the goal of the exercise.
As the client can’t see their back or shoulder blades it is sometimes difficult for them to understand what is being asked unless they have good body awareness and know how to ‘feel’ the movement.
To create more height in the back extension, cueing ‘bring the lower ribs forward’ usually has a good effect.
