So this potential new model came about when ordered a board a few weeks ago(last photo is his custom) he wanted to go shorter in a step up while retaining volume and paddlabilaty, we designed a step down version of the Tripper and this gor me thinking about a possible new model,
A slightly fuller outline makes it more of s daily driver and the three stage rocker i use still works for lots of new zealand waves .

Welcome to the team , I put the word out a little while ago I was looking for potential team riders and jett put his hand up.
Jetts from the awesome taranaki coast and im stoked to be making boards for a grom from one of my favorite coastlines.
We chatted about the newby, the waves intended and what he has been riding , jett is another beast of a human at over 6ft at 14yrs so I had to consider his growth and how thaf would impact any board J put him on
We choose the revised Mutant model for the naki coast and did a few minor adjustments to accommodate his riding style.
How a shaper/Team rider should always work IMO is the rider shows a good moral compass a good ambassador for Jdub Surfboards nz. , be actively endorses the brand and willing to form a long lasting relationship to get the best out of my ability to tune a board to fit well .

Another great shaping classes board out the door , was wanting a big boy fish and had always wanted to shape his own board since childhood. This was the 7'3" we made together at the Jdub Surfboards nz. Factory.
Dreams really do come true and he was very happy with the finished results. Simon was a natural and did all aspects of the shaping process, marking out the template, cutting the outline, thicknessing, foiling the rails , node and tail thinkness; the beak in the nose, cutting in thr bottom conquers, fin placement and finally his signing the board. We also discussed fin configuration and placement, simon favors quad fins and I recommend the set pictured to fit the board.
If you would like to design and shape your own board with one of NZ most experienced hand shapers DM for details .

Customs is what is all about and wanted to try an auckland based shaper after moving up from gisborne.
Richardo likes to chase big waves with barrels and has a few boards in the quiver , the idea of this Tripper model build for him was to retain as much paddlabilaty in a shorter package.
Im very happy with the outcome on this one ,the build flowed start to finish . Its almost a mini tripper thd way we keep a fuller outline and packing 37L into a 6'1" .
Moving forward in thd coming weeks ive had a bereavement in the family but plan to put my head down and push through ive got a few customs on thd go atm so looking forward to keeping the flow going .
Cheers for the belief and looking forward to my next custom order from you brother !!

Another dubflex epoxy out today , was wanting a small waves performance board and I had just recently added the Muzz model to the models available. He wanted to go 5'9" and 31L and a thruster so left the rest to me
Travis surfs mainly maori bay and north Auckland east coast so I had this in mind, this model has a low entry rocker and relaxed rocker throughout for smaller days when you want speed to beat the sections, the wide tail and bump rounded square provide a very pivotal tail , in dubflex the responsiveness has speed added for a really fun small wave destroyer.

So welcome the team .paewai we are stoked to have this 14yrs old piha local as part of the jdub crew , harry is a good kid super stoked on surfing and not afraid to get his hands dirty doing a weekly clean up At the factory, his younger bro Lenny is also riding jdub
high performance boards is what I cut my teeth on and in the early nineties thats what most surfers wanted. As designs and surfing culture as evolved high performance is a smaller part of what we make here at , I believe through my experience shaping performance boards and back then by hand I can transfer thaf skill set to any shape well.
We make longboards , fishes, hybrids, stringerless epoxy and everything in between , hit me up for your next stick we can work together and create your dream board.
Artwork supplied by harry and put on a fabric inlay by
Im looking for possibly two more taam riders between 12 and 18yrson one boy and one girl preferably.

Another great custom ordering review this time from. this is his second board off me and the review speaks volumes about why youvshould order custom over a stock board from a retail shop that has zero vested interest in a board from off shore.
Getting a custom from a kiwi shaper means quality over quantity, after sales service , reduced repair charges, building a relationship that benefits both parties , go custom all.the way !!!!
