Helen and Robyn took part in our 2026 Women's singles club championships today in a best of 3 final to determine the winner. Both players are great draw bowlers which meant the title could have gone either way.

Robyn started off the strongest in the first game and maintained a small lead for majority of the game, but Helen found her length and put pressure on Robyn and eventually came out in a 25 end battle 21-18.

In the 2nd game the roles were reversed where Helen started the stronger and gained a good advantage mid game but Robyn then found her length and played some great bowls and caught up. Helen then played some outstanding bowls to come through in the 2nd game to win 21-16 and take out the championship.

Well done to both Helen and Robyn for their outstanding bowls.

Our mixed veterans club championships took place on Thursday with 10 quality competitors competing for the title. The competition was wide open going into the last round of competition with 6 players in contention for the title. Keith and Doug both took a hold of their last game against Lindsay and Alan Light respectively, who were both still in contention.

They both eventually came out on top after a late comeback by the opposing competitors which meant the last game on the green would determine the outcome. Andy C was going for his 3rd win against Ken A which would have gained him the title but Ken A found his weight and took the lead early. Andy C fought hard to come back but eventually ran out of time narrowly going down which meant Keith won the championship on a count back.

Congratulations to Keith and the other competitors for the great bowls on show in challenging conditions.

Wow, what a final in the 242 Championship!🏆
Cold, miserable weather and our newly mowed grass made for challenging conditions. When I joined the game, Margaret and Keith were cruising at 14-1, seemingly in complete control. But Bruce and Helen launched an incredible comeback, clawing their way back to 14-14 with just one end remaining.
Everything came down to the decisive final end.
Bruce and Helen placed around four bowls close to the jack, putting the pressure firmly on their opponents. Keith and Margaret battled to get a bowl in, and one of their shots knocked a Bruce bowl even closer. The tension was immense, but Bruce and Helen held their nerve and came out victorious 🏆
Congratulations to both teams - and everyone that took part 😎
