SO WHY IS THIS CRAZY LOOKING FISH SO SPECIAL?

Store co-owner David Scott headed over to Australia’s Cape York recently to try for a permit on fly. These fish are super spooky, hard to get bites from, and then fight like crazy, but thanks to a good guide, some personal skills and his Scott Sector fly rod armed with a Flexo Crab fly pattern, Dave got the job done, catching and releasing this beauty, one of the true Holy Grails of salt-fly fishing!

And, even better, his companion Dave Akeroyd also caught a decent one, taking the pressure off the travelling duo and meaning from now on it’s all cream on top!

HOW'S THIS FOR YOUR FIRST EVER BROWN TROUT?!

All-round outdoorsman Allan Sherson works here in our fi****ms department , but he's no slouch when it comes to fishing either, as you can see from these photos - although his daughter India has outshone him in this instance!

India accompanied Allan on a recent trip down to the Mackenzie Country Canals, where they were also joined by buddy and trout fishing guide, Jayden Johns.

Allan says Jayden's expertise was instrumental in the pair landing these lovely brownies, with large lures being used to good effect in the darkness, also producing another nice fish to Jayden.

As to what the trio was using so successfully where and how, you'll need to book a session with Jayden, although we do stock many of the necessary lures here!
