Final MRX got its new U-Dek last week completing a massive upgrade!
U-Dek is certainly a lovely product that not only looks fantastic but provides surefooted grip and is soft and comfortable underfoot. As with most products preparation is the key and where most of the time and effort goes… actually applying the U-Dek itself is the quick, easy and definitely most rewarding part of the process!

There are a lot of misconceptions and false understanding about how the MRX fleet operates. The goal is to clear things up and also introduce new people to the fleet to enjoy super cost effective, One Design Sailing.

Over half way on the MRX U-Dek project now with 6 boats complete and the 7th not far away! The darker grey looks awesome along with the blue, black or light grey edges.

The U Dek product is awesome, grippy, soft on the feet and hard wearing. Like most things the key is in the preparation…unfortunately the original installer applied it straight over the aggressive molded non skid in the gelcoat… which was always going to compromise adhesion and doomed to fail. This time it’s all being ground back, painted to seal the deck and then U Dek. Already we can see from the boats already done that this will be a long term solution with great adhesion and how it should have been done in the first place!

Congratulations to National Keelboat Champions Jordan Stevenson and crew . Also to the Women’s Champs Leslie Egnot and crew who finished a very creditable 3rd outright.

Going into the final 9th race, any of the top four teams could have won! In fact it was so tight it seemed whoever won the final race would win the regatta! Which is exactly what happened.
Andrew Clarke, Byron van Vugt, Anna Merchant, Josh Salthouse, Harry Hull and Matthew Hughes.

Both Jordan and Leslie chartered boats to compete in the RNZYS Sprint Series… time in the boats obviously contributed to their great performances.
