In a repeat of last year’s final, the Squids will take on the Slugs Collectors on CMP Field #10. Encounters between these two sides are always closely contested, and last year’s decider was no exception, with just six points separating them as the Slugs claimed the Maurice O’Connor Cup with a hard-fought 28–22 victory.
The teams last met in Round 3, where the Squids edged the Slugs 22–20 in another nail-biting contest. Both sides head into the final in impressive form after posting big scores in their semi-finals. The Slugs overcame the Grammar TEC Grousedoozers 46–30, while the Squids powered past Eden with a dominant 56–12 win.
With recent history, attacking firepower, and a championship on the line, this promises to be another epic encounter. Will the Slugs go back-to-back, or can the Squids gain redemption and reclaim the Maurice O’Connor Cup?
Head down to the club this Saturday for a 1:00 PM kick-off.

🏉 ROAD TO EDEN PARK 🐍
The road to Eden Park has been a long one, and the Varsity Vipers are now just one step away from lifting the Gallaher Shield once more.
Chasing their first title in nine years, University have been fierce contenders, consistently featuring in top 4 standings. Heartbreak followed in 2018 and 2023, falling just short in Gallaher Shield finals against Ponsonby and Manukau Rovers respectively.
Now, with history on the line, the Vipers prepare for a showdown with Grammar TEC in their quest to end the drought and lift the Gallaher Shield for the 20th time.
🚌 Stay tuned for details on a supporters’ bus and make sure you’re at Eden Park this Saturday to get behind the Vipers.
