University rugby club was established in 1888. The following was written by Sir Colin Maiden in 2006-07 and provides an insight into the development of sporting facilities at Auckland University. Maiden was Vice-chancellor of Auckland University from 1971 to 1994. Premiers head to Gribblehirst Park to take on Eden in a big Round 3 clash, while Prem 2 travel to Papatoetoe. Colts back at Colin Maiden against Otahuhu, and the Slugs and Squids go head to head in a club derby.
