With the 2027 Festival of Football on the Gold Coast in our sights, preparations for our next NZ Ironblacks campaign are underway.

Building on the commitment and foundations of our 2026 programme, we are seeking experienced leaders, emerging coaches and managers, and new contributors ready to serve our athletes and help our teams represent New Zealand with pride.

All 2027 positions are open, and our valued 2026 staff are welcome to reapply.

🇳🇿 Congratulations to our AFOA officials, Don McMillan and Paul Brown, on their selection to represent New Zealand at the 2026 IFAF World Flag Football Championships in Germany!

Their selection reflects the countless hours of hard work and dedication they’ve put into officiating the game. We know they’ll represent AFOA and New Zealand with pride on the world stage.

Wishing Don and Paul all the best for the tournament, taking place 13–16 August. Go well! 🏈

Growing the Gridiron Game in Aotearoa - TP+ The "Iron Blacks" is the name of New Zealand's American Football team. They played and beat Australia in a match recently, and as Neueli Mauafu reports, it's chock full of Pacific Islands players keen to see the sport expand over here.

This opportunity reflects the talent, commitment and contribution each athlete continues to make to New Zealand Flag Football, and we are incredibly proud to see them take the field.

While this is not an official international fixture or a formally selected New Zealand National Team, it remains a prestigious opportunity to represent New Zealand Flag Football, showcase our talent and celebrate the growth of the game across Oceania.

What a championship battle! 🔥 Southern Cross Campus and Rutherford College put on an incredible display of flag football, leaving everything on the field in a thrilling final. Congratulations to Rutherford College on being crowned the 2026 Boys Champions!

Manurewa High School and Rutherford left it all on the floor, but there could only be one champion. Congratulations to Manurewa High School on taking out the win! 💚

Applications are now open for coaching and management roles across our 2027 New Zealand National Flag Football Teams.

All 2027 staffing positions are open for appointment. Current programme staff are warmly encouraged to reapply, and we welcome applications from experienced leaders, emerging coaches and managers, and new contributors from across our community.

We are looking for applicants who will build on the foundations already laid, serve our athletes, strengthen our teams and bring energy, care and purpose to the national programme.

Festival of Football 2026 has come to an end, and what an event it was. Three quality games between two nations continuing to grow the game of American Football 🇳🇿🤝🇦🇺

Across all six teams, we witnessed passion, grit, determination, and incredible talent from start to finish. It was a celebration of the sport and everyone who continues to help it grow.

Thank you to the players, coaches, officials, volunteers, and every fan who made this weekend so special.
