Arena West Weightlifting (AWW) is our Weightlifting New Zealand Affiliated barbell pathway, coached by Coach Mel, running inside The Arena West and coming to The Arena North soon! 👀

Whether you’re new to the Sn**ch and Clean & Jerk, refining technique, building stronger totals, or curious about competing - this is for you!

Our lifting community has already made its mark with international qualification and a NZ Record holder! And we’re committed to continuing to build strong, skilled lifters together.

AWW is excited to announce our first club competition hosted at our homebase in The Arena, on Saturday 15 February.

This is a Weightlifting New Zealand sanctioned club comp. Weigh in from 9am.

Please note:
• Shorts/tights and t-shirts can be worn provided the t-shirt is tucked into the waistband for every lift
• IWF Regulations for belts, bandages and strapping apply
• Only current WNZ members can enter and compete.
• Athletes need to have completed Clean Sport Level 1 module before the competition

BIG weekend incoming, starting early tomorrow at 9:00am with our very own AWW Coach Melissa Chisholm-Cowie taking the platform for the Nationals Weightlifting Championships and then our amazing Issys Tobia-Pita on Saturday at 12:30pm 🔥

It's always inspiring watching our strong ladies lift and showcase their daily discipline and hard work on the platform 🏋🏽‍♀️
