Have Your Say on the Arms Bill
The Auckland Branch of Antique Arms encourages all members and supporters to make a submission on the current Arms Bill. Proposed changes to fi****ms legislation can have real and lasting impacts on collectors, historians, and sporting communities, and it’s important that informed voices are heard.
Whether you support or oppose aspects of the Bill, submitting is your chance to put your views on the public record and contribute to a balanced discussion. Submissions don’t need to be long—what matters is that you take part.
Now is the time to engage. Please consider making a submission before the deadline.

Antique Arms Auckland Branch has started the year strong, kicking off 2026 with a fantastic turnout that once again highlighted the strong sense of community and shared passion within the group.
The theme for the night was “T”, which brought out a great range of topics and fi****ms, including Thompson, Tokarev, Tikka, Trapdoor, Trench Gun, Training Rifles, Turkish Mausers, Tula, Target Rifles, and various Type-series military arms.
A huge thanks to everyone who brought something along and shared their knowledge — it’s what makes these nights so worthwhile. If you’re keen to learn more or have something to share, we’d love to hear from you.

Rifles
Top is a Deutsches Sportmodell or DSM
Introduced in 1934 to about 1940 a "sporting" military trainer to train German youth it had many features similar to a K98. The standard military rifle
The Klein Kaliber Wehrsportgewehr was developed as a trainer in late 1938 due to dissatisfaction with the DSM military units wanted a trainer that was as close as possible to a K98.

223 cal barrel with original bird cage flash hider, bayonet
lug and iron sights. The receiver with integral carry handle
with rear sight and forward assist. Marked with C**t logo,
model and address etc. ExC synthetic original furniture
and includes its original C**t 20R magazine and cleaning
kit in the butt stock. A nice untouched collectors example.
327. SLR.
Ex NZ Military L1A1 semi auto rifle. 25” .308 cal barrel
with original flash hider, bayonet lug and sights. Receiver
with Lithgow 1962 prefix. Metalwork is in ExC with near
all parkerised and blued finishes. VGC woodwork and
complete with swivels and 20R magazine.

Carvell’s Auctions November 1st 2025 don’t miss it!
39. U.S. WWII semi-automatic carbine. Fitted with an 18″ .30 M1-calibre barrel with original sight and correctly finished without a bayonet lug; the barrel is marked INLAND MFG — GENERAL MOTORS with date 9-43. The chamber is stamped U.S. CARBINE. The receiver, with original fixed sight, is marked INLAND MFG and bears a serial number in the 990,000 range. Metalwork in excellent condition, retaining nearly all of the original parkerized finish. Woodwork in excellent, correct condition with a clear P cartouche. Complete with original khaki sling, oiler, and a 15-round magazine.
101. Famous Swedish Carl Gustaf M/45 submachine gun, as used by U.S. Special Forces during the Vietnam War. Features an 8″ 9 mm calibre barrel with original front sight mounted on the ventilated heat shield. The receiver is the variant with fixed magazine guide and is stamped with the Swedish Crown proof and serial number (notably, the heat shield bears a serial one digit off—likely a minor factory or assembly numbering error). Metalwork retains the correct original green enamel finish. Excellent original wooden pistol grip and steel folding stock, complete with sling swivels and 36-round magazine.

We have had the privilege of going through Carvell’s Auctions November 1st 2025 Auction and hand picked a few interesting piece whcih caught our eyes.
A Finnish military-issue example of the MG 08/15 Maxim machine gun. This piece features a 30″, 7.62 × 54R calibre barrel fitted with a flash-hider; the water jacket retains the original dovetail front sight and bipod attachment. The feed cover is marked with serial number “403” and “MG 08/15 J.P. Sauer & Sohn Suhl 1917”. The graduated rear sight reaches out to 2,000 m. The fusée spring cover is matching number, as are most of the other parts — with the exception of sections converted from 8 mm by Tikka. Traces of Tikka and SA = Suomen Armeija [Finnish Army]. arsenal marks are visible on the left front of the receiver. The metalwork retains nearly all of its original blue/plum finish; the woodwork is in excellent correct finish. Fitted with bipod. It is estimated that only ~300 of the Finnish-issued MG 08/15s were produced, making this a very rare opportunity for the advanced collector. Condition: excellent
