For those who may not have received our email earlier today, the fields have been closed again so we're unable to have clubnight tonight 😢 Let's hope next week brings a brighter and sunnier Athletics night 🌞

Understandably, after the what we've had over the last few days, the council have had no choice but to close our fields therefore cancelling clubnights. We hope to be back on track next week!!

We really hate to have to do this for a second week in a row, but due to the weather and this crazy wind, thunder and lightening we are going to have to cancel athletics this afternoon!!

As a precaution due to the unpredictable weather we've had today and the online forecasts not being 100% accurate, we have decided to cancel clubnight. Its not a decision we take lightly but the last thing we want is for any of our young ones getting sick or unwell. We'll see everyone back next week!

Tonight’s our last give it a go night before registrations need to be in next week!! Bring your wee babes (1yr-6yr) down tonight at 5pm and your big babes (7yr -14yr) at 6pm to get a feel for our club nights and how they’re run!!! If you guys enjoy it then sign on up online and be ready for next week!!!

Athletics is a great way to either introduce your children to sport or keep them super fit over the summer period!!

Get ready for our first clubnight on Wednesday 26th October!!

Whether you're a social athlete or competitive, we welcome all athletes of all abilities to come down and join.
We allow for 2 clubnights with no obligation to join to get a feel for it before registration is required.

Parent help is required on a weekly basis for our club nights to run!!

For all our seasoned athletes and parents, all registrations are now done online. As this is a whole new system, you will need to create a new username and password.

On behalf of the Avondale Athletics Club, we'd like to extend our deepest and sincerest condolences to the Karena family on the passing of Ta'a Karena.

Ta'a was is a life member of the club and was heavily involved during the 80's & 90's. He held many roles in the club during his tenure but he will be remembered mostly for his love and success in coaching junior Shotput and Discus. He successfully coached and mentored many young athletes who dominated championship events across Auckland, within NZ and Australia, and Oceania.

Three of his children still currently hold club records. Both the Senior girls shotput and Discus records are still held by his two youngest daughters, Ngaina & Louisa Karena

We thank you Ta'a for your service and contribution to the club, and the foundations that you laid, especially for Throws. You're reputation to this day still stands within the Athletics community as one of the toughest throws coaches to have ever been!

His funeral service will take place on Tuesday 16th November via live stream, please message through if you'd like the link.
